The new food rules - you've read the latest Admin article haven't you? - what does it mean for us?



....we’re going to remove the “70 health check” feature (if you fight in a day, you will not receive a free 70 health bonus recovery the next day)...

What was going wrong? If someone wanted to, they might never have to spend any money whatsoever. They could work, earn their salary, train, study and relax, whatever, it didn't matter. What mattered was, as long as they fought at least once in any battle, the next day they would be returned to 70 health. This meant they would never have to buy any food, let alone houses. If they wanted, they could fight barehanded they could too, never having to buy weapons. A completely free eRep experience? Yes, it could happen! But it fatally weakened pretty much every industry going.

At the moment, one unit of food is consumed from your inventory at the beginning of each eRepublik day. With these changes, you will be able to eat the first food from your inventory by clicking on a new button in the sidebar. Multiple times a day; you can restore up to 300 health/day this way.

What was going wrong? As all the raw material companies are now Q1 it basically removed the demand for a great deal of high Q food. Why buy anything over Q1 or Q2 when you would only lose 1 health working and your health was guaranteed by the '70 health check' every morning?

...we have more good news for house companies owners. The amount of health given by the customization points of houses (the roof component of them) will be multiplied 5 (five) times. As an example, a Q5 house customized to give you maximum health now will give you 50 health per day.

What was going wrong? Houses were fatally underpowered. Why buy an expensive house that lasted maybe only 10 days when all it would give you was a measely 1.5 health per day? This essentially killed the housing industry and stone too.

What is going to happen now? Well, this will make people buy more food. If a high powered tank can eat through up to 300 health per day (plus house effects, plus 3 lots of 70 health aid kits) that means a lot of food will be bought. This will boost sales of food, high quality food, giving the grain industry a boost too. And because of all those extra fights it will improve the rate weapons are used up, boosting weapon sales and therefore iron and titanium. Housing will again become useful like it did back in V1 when Admin altered the hospital rules.

Importantly as well, it will redistrubute the cost of eRep. Everyday players can continue getting away playing for free, it will only be those who really want to go crazy on the battlefield that will be spending the cash.

Oh and if multi-account users want to keep all their little zombies alive and kicking, well they are going to have to log into each individual one and make them eat. No more automatic food = a lot more work for cheaters.
