The Importance of Alliances in the Game

Day 587, 14:02 Published in Greece Greece by Che Greco

As we all know the New World is dominated by two main alliances, the PEACE Global Community and the Alliance Formerly Known as Atlantis. Being part of a small country such as eGreece it’s easy realize the importance of alliances. We wouldn’t have our freedom if it wasn’t for our allies, but the fact is that alliances are important for all countries, big and small.

When I began playing this game a few months ago, like most noobs, I knew very little about Alliances and since I saw RL countries with RL flags in this game, I assumed RL policies. I was wrong.

In the beginning of my eLife the only battles I knew were RW to liberate our eNation. This is where I saw friends who I assumed enemies come to our aid but also enemies who I assumed friends fight against us. Obviously I was very glad with the former yet very upset at the latter. But allies aren’t only important because they come to your aid in time of need but they are also important because you get to develop friendships and sense of comradeship with people from foreign countries.
More importantly, though, allies are an effective way to fight against another country without having to demonize its people. I didn’t realize this until the past week in the Croatia v Serbia war, where I learned it’s easier to demonize an entire alliance rather than a single nation, which can create many problems. And this is perhaps that most important aspect of an alliance.

When fighting against Serbia I realized it’s not possible to demonize the Serbs. They are my RL friends and they are my eFriends. But in this game they are on the “evil” alliance so until they join the “good” side we will have to fight against each other. As our country fought to defend Croatia I got many messages of gratitude from Croatians but also many disappointed messages from Serbians. There are very few RL nationalities that are closer than Serbs and Greeks. When I saw Serbs fight against us in our RW I too was upset as many Serbs are upset to see us fight against them.

But the fact is we never really fight against Serbia. Rather we come to the aid of our very close ally and friend Croatia, who has ALWAYS been there for Greece from the very first RW we launched and who came to our aid without ever being asked to just like many other nations such as USA, Spain, Romania, Sweden, Finland, Poland etc etc. If this is not an alliance then I don’t know what is? In addition, we don’t fight against Serbia but rather we fight against the opposing alliance that participated in conquering our lands, the same way Serbia has fought against their opposing alliance.

War is probably the biggest part of this game and while most experienced players understand this aspect of an alliance, I urge all citizens, especially new ones, to join the mentality of the Alliance especially when they fight. Whether it’s Croatia v Serbia, Greece v Turkey or Romania v Hungary, you come out a better person when you realize you’re fighting against an entire alliance rather than an individual enemy.

In this game you really are only as strong as your alliance, so sticking together through the bad times and the good is not only important for your eCountry’s sake but your individual’s sake as well.
