Supreme Court of eCanada - april 18 update

Day 1,245, 20:19 Published in Canada Canada by olivermellors

Muglack’s forum and irc bans were lifted on April 16th. Welcome back.

Kyoto’s bans are expected to expire on the 20th. We await confirmation from the CSIS director that the offender has complied with conditions.

The Court will soon complete a case describing the procedure and principles applicable to discipline of the Judges. We hope never to put it into practice.

CLERKSHIP PROGRAM

The president will soon be called upon to replace at least one departing judge. He may wish to fill the other vacancy as well.

Finding players who are able and willing has been a challenge in the past. I am considering the possibility of beginning a clerkship program. This would provide a player of merit an opportunity to learn about our laws, procedures and history. It would provide the president with able candidates for the bench.

I think this program would be particularly attractive to new players who aren’t interested in political infighting, like to reason and wish to contribute strong ideas to our community. I have begun to discuss the idea with my colleagues. PM me if you have any interest. Tell your friends. Mention it in your newspapers.
