Suggestions to the Next Prime Minister
Molly Jo
Suggestion List
These suggestions are in no particular order, just in order of how they came to mind.
1. Build friendships with Nations who want to be our friends. We don't need two faced allies who will stab us in the back to try and make nice with an Alliance. We need friends and allies who will stand with us, this doesn't have to mean joining an alliance, we should be able to be friend who ever wants to be our friends, who will support us, and who we will feel proud to support in battle.
2. Keep the Department of Humans Services and Centrelink, these our good programs that can and do help our community.
3. The Department of Finance should be run by senators, they are in charge of the budget anyway.
4. Keep Scottty from leaving us, even if you have to give him all the drugs he wants, or other perks.
5. a Prime Minister that promotes unity, one who wont take office and start by blaming everything on administration before him/her, one who runs a respectful campaign.
6. Stand resolute against those who will try to push you around. We don't need to be pushed into an unfair agreement by the likes that betrayed us. If they won't let you think it over, its an unfair deal.
7. Don't be afraid to ask for help, you have a cabinet for a reason, but also don't let any of them control you or speak for you.
8. Work your butt off, its going to be needed.
Closing
The term isn't quite over, but I will say it has certainly been a learning experience for me to be your Deputy Prime Minister. If anyone would like to add a suggestion feel free, I only ask you keep it respectful and polite, I ask the same from all commenters and as always

Being in Gov is harder than it looks from the outside 🙂 Still good term. Nobody could have predicted Phiffer's minion Fingerguns would betray the will of the USA people and stab Aus in the back.
this is basically my plan ; )
i was actually hoping to introduce my idea of having a senate elected Treasurer, not sure how it will be recieved but for now ill stick with the standard approach and try to work senatorial budgetting into things
I pretty much agree with Molly Jo on all points.
I do disagree on point 3 though, but hope to have an experienced former senator to run as MoF.
Voted!
interesting, so you start thinking....as I remember you want be a friend with your occupant too and vote for Chi-Aus treaty
Who exactly are planning to run for Prime Minister?
I know Tim_Holtz is, but is it still your intention, Mr Crumpets?
Was Roboa only a joke?
I agree with it all except for point 3 too. Sometimes we just don't have a Senator who would be able (or would want to) do a good job in Finance. It's an area that we're not all qualified to be in.
Yes Reximus, I am running.
I like this molly, can I nominate her for Prime Minister?
I have no problem with any of these things. I even have no issue with a Senator being MoF. Senate is in charge of authorising the Budget under the Constitution.
Yes Reximus Roboa is Joke
By definition the budget belongs to the PM. Its his plan in financial terms. He should prepare it and report against it.
The Senate is keeper of the reserves and gets to decide if a budget is appropriate. In my 4 years in teh game 90% of Senators have no idea what the budget means. The other 10% have some clues but quite honestly rarely make any amendments. OK some cabinets havent done much better but at least they know what they want or need.
Having said all of that, I do agree with the principle of a non cabinet person controlling the treasury and reserves on behalf of the Senate. Not sure if this should be a Senator or maybe more like a Bank Governor as an employee of the Senate. Either way, you would need to find someone with sufficient financial nouse and trust etc. If you have a non-Senator, you have the option of longer terms, say 3 months which eases the task of finding people and maintains better continuity.
The issue in my opinion with point 3 is that I believe that a good MoF (i,e, Venja) is able to provide the senate with high quality advice on the budget, and as they are not an elected official, it ensures that the best person for the job is available. This can be best demonstrated with indo who do not have a MoF, and their economy is going down the drain, with poor / ineffective measures being put in place (increasing VAT to 20😵. While the basic spending for MPP's and defence funding is not really in the hands of the DoF, they are government advisers who are crutial to avoid costly mistakes being made. They also are data rich, and have a good ability to track the economys movements and able to implement suggestions when game mechanics change. As Venja said, maybe it is not a direct cabinet position, but I still think that it would be a costly mistake to not have a MoF for more than 1-2 terms.
Perhaps nominations could be made, and the senate and CP vote in who they think should run the treasury, but I don't think it currently an issue with our system.
Girl power
Suggestion for the next prime minister?
Someone who doesn't suck.
