Some personal thoughts

Day 551, 14:34 Published in Malaysia Malaysia by Nagyzee

I thought that instead of program points, clear-cut plans, etc. I'd write a more subjective and personal article this time before the elections along the lines of why I'm here, what is the charm of eMalaysia for me and how I imagine her future.

Well, the very first reason was that small nations like Malaysia offer a lot different and in my opinion more exciting gameplay than those big countries. Communities are smaller and thus more closer knit and personal and the challenges in several aspects are greater.🙂 Trying to build a prosperous country from almost zero, debating about strategical plans, the economy and so on is definitely challenging and fun.

Another great aspect of Malaysia is that the country is neutral which gives freedom in international relations. It was great that as a member of the government I could talk and negotiate in a friendly spirit with leaders from countries all over the world. Also us being neutral was one of the reasons that lead to the marvellous sight of Romanians, Poles, Hungarians, Swedes, Indonesians, Americans, Theocrats defending us against the Thai attack side by side. It was the most inspiring moment in my Erepublik career.

And this takes us to what is in my opinion the main charm of Malaysia (and to an extent of some other small countries as well). Most big countries are strongly based on real life nationality while here everyone can be eMalaysian who is ready to live in and work for this country. I love the open minded spirit this little international community has and how hospitable the few real life Malaysians in this game are. It's great that people of many real life nationalities are having fun here as eMalaysians and I think this is what we should build on. To keep Malaysia an open-minded, friendly and peaceful place where people of different nationalities can relax a bit, to where they can escape from the monotonous grinding of the wars between big nations often accompanied by hatred, real life frustration, etc. We could also cater to those who find the economical, political and social part of the game more interesting than the war module. Malaysia can be a place offering a whole lot different gaming experience, mentality and a great community.

And as a final note I have to mention that the community is already great here. Without it this country could go nowhere. Every start is hard and setting Malaysia on the path of development also required/requires personal sacrifices. The state could never buy a hospital or pay the costs of alliances by herself. All these bigger investments were practically made exclusively from private donations. I'd like to send a big thank you to Roby Petric for securing us the hospital deal and also to IVAN RADMAN and the nation of Croatia and to those of you as well who made this purchase possible in the first place by your donations no matter how small or big they were. It's a big mistake that nobody thanked you yet, you also really deserve it.🙂 I have to say it's a great feeling that some bricks of the hospital were purchased from my donation but it's an even greater one that I know that many can share this feeling with me. Again, hats off to all of you guys!
