SH/BH Try-harder!
![USA](http://www.erepublik.net/images/flags_png/S/USA.png)
Herr Nicholas
I'm resigning from my political party and my military unit. This inescapable unwritten rule is going to be the bane of this game. I'm going to continue to play, as I desire, without being hounded by eRep try-hards attempting to force my hand and compliance.
It's sad to think that someone who is just attempting to gain experience, and expend their energy, has to abide by silly quid-pro-quo Andy's. Getting messaged by a "rando" is whatever but getting messaged from the country president throwing a fit, like a petulant child, because I stole HIS "medal", is just beyond flabbergasting.
If your medals are so precious to you, attack more! Every single time I have been messaged regarding these silly medals the person doing the complaining has 100%, and often 1000%, more strength than I. Not to mention the obscene amount of medals already won. For context, I have (now) 8 SH medals, the complainer... 6000+. Make the upset make sense to me please!
In short: don't message me about you not winning something you're clearly strong enough and supplied enough to easily win. I won’t fall in line, and I won’t be complicit.
Thanks,
~HN

I ‘stole’ from the bot account that is presently ePrez a lot and never got messaged … 🥱
Perhaps that in itself is a message.
that massive bot runners either do not have the time or know better than over type least they give themselves away ….
honestly, do you think the person who plays as Custurd is really the person who started the account Custer?
or if you have ever read a book with two authors, surely you notice who wrote what …
only a small minded person like krapnil/ Custurd thinks they are smarter than the rest of us …
The quality of the message I received showed a clear lacking of education.
Keep on keeping on man, some people don't understand the medal isn't theirs until the clock runs out.
🤟
The sheer obsession with winning it is WILD! Back in the day there was like 2 whales... the rest of the plebs just had fun playing mock-politics

I'm gonna take a week and realign my attitude, because at the moment all I want is to melt down and curse 🙂 I do enjoy that article though
If there's still time in the battle, it's up for grabs.
That's how I understood it... but apparently the person who can initiate wars, and subsequently attack first, has first dibs? what the f?
Ignore that silly sh*t. Play your game. I think that there may not be anyone in this game that has not been accused of theft of make-believe gold and related "prizes". It's not the first and probably won't be the last. I've been disappointed in so many people here, with their unjustified and unwarranted accusations. Soldier on, Chief.
What a solid and candid retort. Thank you for visiting my TED talk 🙂

I agree, you want the medal, hit harder. It isn't over until the clock runs out.
Also, I too had to leave party and military unit to play the game unfettered from the harassment. Play the game the way you want.
In the end not a single person in this made-up world can force my hand. The self-assumed allegiance is the only thing holding up these harrowed walls. In roughly 9 years I'll have enough strength to truly be a pest! lol
It's not exactly the taking the medal I don't think. The TW's are for farming, and there is a general set of 'guidelines' pretty much all farmers go by. It's looked at as a serious lack of respect if you pass people, or snipe medals at the end of rounds, etc.. It is something typically done to enemies, certainly not other countrymen and certainly not teammates.
If the battle needs damage, a real war, or walls flipped in a critical battle, then i dont think anyone realistic expects to win or hold onto medals. But for TW's, there is a long established way of farming..
When one comes into a new group and says 'im going to do my own thing and do whatever i want, i dont care about your rules' .. it's like putting up the middle finger to them, if you want to be involved in the community and be respected by others doing that would not be advised,.. Now if you don't care about friends and all that, certainly, do as you please but you're not going to make anyone happy about it. 😛
I agree some go overboard with the medals thing, and for lower divisions idc if a newer person passes me in a place i was farming.. SH's can be touchy, and if you go by your own rules you have to know then others wont feel a need to respect the guidelines or you when it comes to the medals. It will just be a matter of time before someone gets ticked off and starts sniping all your medals. The 'guidelines' are there to avoid such things, being newer (or an old player returning in your case) its advised to follow the guidelines. It was created for a reason, to just come in and say 'f that' id think of as rude.. Even if you dont know or understand the reasons behind it, there are reasons.
Best thing to do is to talk and communicate, a bunch of yelling at someone newer is not going to be very fruitful. Also you were annoyed by all the 'randos' .. imagine after they msg you then they go msg the CP or whomever is in charge.. or everybody in office! Sometimes one can lose their cool when many ppl are complaining to them about some other persons behavior. and it can be beyond frustrating when you stand up for a person, going to bat for them and then they do it to you..
Anyway.. I'm not telling you what to do, do as you want ofc,.. just trying to hopefully provide some answers and some insight into the situation. If you ever see me in the lead for a lower div BH, feel free to pass me.. but please dont snipe my SH's unless its necessary, at least do it to a enemy nation or something.. 😃
Lastly, communicate, msg each other, starting off yelling rarely solves anything.. People become defensive, guarded, and its hard to listen when one is in a state like that and often creates more misunderstanding in an already misunderstood situation.. not productive,..
I hope this helps in someway to at least someone, otherwise F off! 😛 -sarcasm- gl and hf! o7
ps to all: im tired and did not proof read this, learn to cope 🙂
Valid points, and I appreciate your insight. For further context the conversation went as follows "You sniped my medal... do it again and I'll be big mad" I further explained that it was in fact an accident as I woke up middle of the night and used the mobile app to quickly deplete my energy. The mobile app, as I assume you're aware, is incomplete and not user-friendly. I was then TOLD to use the browser to avoid future issues. I can post screen-shots to confirm this interaction and my subsequent furor. I understand the notion of one team, one goal, but there is no team in "I lead, you follow".
From what I can tell, it was the abrasive msg's that caused this.. Why not give each other a pass and in the future give the other person a chance to explain..? I understand you did not like being 'TOLD' and I think we can all understand that to some degree. The medal 'guidelines' or 'rules' are what i could call social rules. One can do all kinds of 'legal' gross things in public, but to expect others to just be 'ok' with it, is unrealistic. To use a RL example. If one does that, then decides to fight everyone who doesnt like it, then that person is going to be dealing with 10x the aggravation as before. Also taking gold away from other eUS citizens only hurt the other eUS citizen.
to this: "I understand the notion of one team, one goal, but there is no team in "I lead, you follow"." I agree, but all this has been decided over many years of the game by the players. Also we do have a Leader, as do most teams, and in our democratically elected government they are the "Commander in Chief".. So, not to be am ass, but he kinda can order you around and ask you to follow guidelines / rules. Do you HAVE to listen? Nope, not at all. For real change you'd need to get involved in Politics, Congress, etc..
Based on what you are saying, the interaction could have been less abrasive and more positive, but again this medal thing has been talked about 982734.2 times.. It can get tiring when people argue or want to debate about the medal thing.. It is rarely about the gold and basically looked at as a highly disrespectful move OR someone 'not in the know' of the farming 'guidelines' .. I think most assume the later and not sniping, so they try to inform the other player of how things are generally done. If met with resistance, some may consider it being disrespected. If a new player or 'rookie' shows up on day 1, and the veterans give him a rundown and the rookie says like "I dont need to that, sounds like a waste".. The veterans are trying to help the rookie, and when told that their information from experience is junk they would probably get mad and in practice the rookie would not be very popular and likely get the crap knocked out of him in practice as a form of hazing. Not condoning it, but it's how things usually shake out... Rookie either steps up and listens and is accepted, or becomes overwhelmed and quits..
I think this all comes down to miscommunication and misunderstanding based on some abrasive wording.. Everyone wants to be respected, and you can do whatever you want in the game, but you can not expect people to like it.
Lastly, why didnt you msg me? I let you know if you needed anything being newer or had any problems to drop me a msg, I would have helped out.
GL! 🙂
ps: I am mostly talking in general,.. o7
You do realize you are complaining about people complaining.
Yes you can play the game how you want to and others can play the way they want - which for some means sending PMs to complain about stealing.
As to why someone would complain even though they already have a large number of medals, it may be the loss of the gold versus the loss of the medal. Would you be surprised if a waiter who has gotten thousands of tips, complained because some one stole a tip before they could pick it up?
And for the semantics out there who do not want to call it stealing, I suggest googling Colloquialism - versus trying to apply a legal definition to a game.
Colloquialism cannot, or really should not, be applied to non-real-rules... Stealing a tip is actually breaking the law, stealing a medal is... not stealing at all as it isn't a rule or a law. As has been defined multiple times by previous posters... medals are awarded at the end, not the beginning, middle or near-end. do you get super upsetty-spaghetti when your favorite sports team didn't win because another team won first? (or rather last as I ended up doing the most divisional damage...idk I'm getting lost in translation at this point). SN you're not my enemy, nor my friend, and I have no ill-will toward you, however your avid desire to continue to with prosaic ongoings is rather... mundane. Go against the cloth and disrupt the pattern!
Do you know the meaning of Colloquialism?
Words meaning change based on context. In baseball stealing a base is not a crime. An actor who has stolen a scene has not committed a crime. An agent who steals a client from another agent hasn't committed a crime.
Or are you claiming that those who use the word stealing are claiming you committed a crime or broke a rule?
The waiter example was to explain why someone might care about losing the gold from the medal.
i.e. as an answer to your "the complainer... 6000+. Make the upset make sense to me please!"
I'm not claiming, I'm leveling an accusation. I have been told I broke "unspoken rules" BY YOU
As an MU officer, I have told many people about the MU policy on stealing BH/SHs. The intent of telling them is to let them know so they wouldn't do it again. Apparently, you broke it after it was communicated to you - otherwise why the need to leave the MU?
Apparently you find it surprising that a group - Military Unit or Political Party, would expect its members to treat other members with respect. That is basically what this "unspoken" rule is.
In football there is no rule that precludes a player from intentionally giving the other team the football. And I would be surprised if many coaches bother to tell players they shouldn't do that. But I would be surprised if the coach, to put it mildly, didn't complain to a player that actually did that.
As I hadn't explicitly explained the entire situation, I'll do so here. I woke up, battled using the mobile app (as it notified me I had full energy). I'm not sure if you're a super-user of the app, but it isn't user-friendly in the least. I don't know, still, how to determine who has damaged what/where using the app. Knowing this, I still went ahead and dumped my energy on a single fight, hoping I didn't breaking this unspoken rule. Turns out I did. I get this silly little message declaring my discrepancy, and promising retribution should I commit my atrocious acts again! I attempted to apologize for my transgression and explain that I work 13-15 hour shifts (I am a nurse) and that I used the app and couldn't determine if someone had attacked. I'll be honest, I didn't determine which division I attacked in (d1 or plane mode), I just loaded the app, selected a war, and hit deploy. I closed my phone and went back to bed as I worked again today. Well, I get another message exclaiming that i "shall never make this god-forbidden error again, or else!" and this is where I give up and, quiet frankly, stop caring.
Take this as you will, and I assume it'll be as a linebacker protecting yours, but I'll do as I see fit and I'll call out that which I know should be standard practice.
Cheers,
~HN
P.S: I don't know crud about football, or sports, but I like you example and admit you got me there!
As for the App I almost never use it.
The last time I used it was to get a gift that was available only on the App.
Instead when using your phone you should use the browser & I recommend not using the mobile version - although its been years since I tried the mobile version so it might be better now.
Beside the gift I have only heard 2 good thing about the App - one (weekly packs) I've been told are no longer available and the other (being able to see everything in the weekly challenge) was added to the web version.
These are not things I am/were aware of, and yet I'm held to such a standard that I'm basically threatened. I'm slightly drunk, and clearly dramatic, but the problem still exists. The direct and indirect accusations, regardless of experience, is out of hand. Push for a written rule, or stop harassing people about it. I use the APP as I cannot access the browser 24/7, yet I still want to commit and prove myself. I enjoyed my time, however brief, in RR and my MU, but the lack of activity and cohesion was... depressing. I do not believe that issue is singular in PP or MU, but game-wide. eRep is certainly not 2010 anymore
I mean use the browser on your phone - just not the mobile version of the site- i.e. not m.erepublik...
I have not heard any praise for the App.
Almost verbatim the response I got. No regard for situation. -sigh-
Well from what you said a contributing factor to your unintentional stealing was the App not providing enough visibility of the battlefield.
My suggestion is use you phone browser and you will have better visibility.
If you steal BH/SH even unintentionally I expect you will still get complaints.
the vast majority of the cases in the MU I've dealt with is folks who just log in and dump all there energy and I try to explain to them to be aware of others and if need be just split it between battles or better yet dump it in a real war if available,
Alas, you're prospecting a perfect scenario. My situation, as you believe in colloquialism, is defined by my knowledge of the system (the app) and the ambiguous unwritten rules. Had I anticipated this ire I'd hopefully choose the less mentally demoralizing route. Since I'm not omnipotent I did not anticipate the problem, I simply did what was efficient and good for me, which is how someone should enjoy a game they pay for, by either money or time spent.
I'll update and repost the "rules" article for TWs again, as it's been a few years since it's last been posted and discussed.
I don't really farm much, so I have less skin in the game, but the whole point is for mutual benefit. Especially in D123, there are ALWAYS open BHs - so respecting first hit is to avoid either wasting damage to win the BH or to avoid wasting fuel on a BH that someone else took.
In SH hunting, it's certainly more crowded, but if anything, first hit helps the little guys - you spend the time waiting for battle to open, you'll get your SH. But imagine if "sniping" was considered acceptable - I could go around at t90 and easily take all the SHs from weaker players.
Imagine having the power to open TW and taking first hit.
(insert- IDK how wars work 🙂 )
I think thats what was trying to be explained to you, how things work with the wars.. but the coarse messaging blinded the intent behind it.. again... should of msg'd me! 😃
HV I have never had issues with you, and so far as I'm aware you've never had reason to dislike me. We worked together over a decade ago when ER was more social based. Clearly things are not the same, and people and personalities change. I'll again clarify. I. USED. THE. APP. THE. APP. ISN'T. GOOD. As we have discussed, and as SN has repeatedly defined, I understand the unwritten rule. Do I agree with it, -insert curse word- NO. Will I abide by it? Also NO. I do not believe that is what the developers intended when they invented the system, as it encourages cohesion and team work and reduces wasteful gold spending.
I'll say it again, screw these elite fook wads unwritten rules. Play the game the way you want. You're not breaking the actual ToS. Have fun and don't let these bullies get you down. Ignore them.
Sleepy Joe Bribem has spoke! o7
You do you brother! At the end of the day, unwritten rules are just that. Unwritten.
I might follow and head out myself, I get why it's done, but it's done for people that spend all day on here, I am not one of those and if I see a battle, whether it has someone there or not, I am gonna dump my damage and move on.
10-4 good buddy. A game is meant to be enjoyed by the gamer!
My new friend
You just tried to take my SH and by doing so you flipped the bar, messing wit the TW as well..
https://www.erepublik.com/en/military/battlefield/672174/0/fighterStatistics
Well done..
Well i am here and you are marked, like all the others that have stolen or tried to steal from me in the past..
Since there is no rule for you, no rules apply to me..
Wherever i find you i will take your SH if i can..
What goes around comes around smartass..
ENJOY
Whatever makes your boat float db.
BTW if your master wants to come pay me a visit, i will be more than happy to take care of him too

LOOOL
I wish I also had the ability to buy an established account 🙂
Oh, wait, I have my original account! Yay 🙂
Make the upset make sense to me please! Generally I avoid this but the app is questionable and untrustworthy I don't use it. When someone steals my BH its not really the gold that matters but the fact they stepped on me to get it. It normally dose not happen in loose battles though and I use those to get my BH/SH.
I'm not sure the aim of this comment, but I think generally I agree. I think the context between languages is the issue, but I am not sure 🙂
There's an "i" when entering the battlefield on the app. You can clearly see who hit where (on what side). It also defaults to your division, if you chose "ground" in the "game options" on your "edit profile" page (go to it via a browser, even mobile, as it has already been suggested above). Or to air, if you chose so.
But I don't see why you're troubled so much. As long as you're just dropping your energy (and you most definitely should do that, I see you use a power pack, possibly a blitzkrieg pack as well, I don't know), with no interest (?) for the outcome/medal, why suffer (?) so much when messaged? Just block the sender, you can do that (not sure if in the app, but via the browser, definitely doable). Block one, block two, block them all 😁. You won't be bothered ever again. Happy end, if you ask me.
The more interesting aspect you mentioned is how some e-presidents abuse their prerogative, start 5-10 campaigns when they choose it fits them and then go for (most of) those rounds, either themselves or via multi accounts.
Voted, supported, for more visibility. Subscribed as well, maybe you could return the favor, one day we might reach the 1000 mark and get a medal for that as well.
Well, I now know how to use the app to be annoying(er). I have burned the bridges I have screamed under, and there is no turning back. The suffrage isn't so much my own but the party/military unit screaming at me. There is no peace when I am yelled as for abrupting members and associate members and wannabe members and trade-war members and e😜arty-ex-lover-ex-mother-in-law exs.... Danged if I do danged if I don't. Knowing the niche alliances and therein memberships seems so exhausting.
