Professionals and politicians

Day 1,075, 08:32 Published in Romania Romania by deus otiosus

Recently, our president. Bogdan_L published a short (rather humorous) note on Battalgazi's fighting alongside Romania in the Northern Basarabia RW. Now, while I do not comment the side BattalGazi took (after all a BH medal is a medal, and the competition with Romper is tough), a raw of mostly negative comments in the above mentioned article brought my attention, and I'd like to ad a few of my thoughts on this.

Bogdan_L is a eWorld-wide known character, his stats being highly appreciated by both friends and foes (>10k subscribers). His stats and his analysis made him a respected professional, one of the few in the eWorld. Fighting, working and so is not special, this is what the games basic requirements are, but doing some more, using your personal skills to enhance the game, for the benefit of all players is something that must be appreciated, and it was.

Now, some people in our politics thought that a good professional, could be a good president to, and thus in the March 2010 elections Bogdan_L enrolled in the electoral race. He lost to Alex Craciun, whom I would call a politician, skilled in manipulating the mobs (remember the yellow map?), promising this and that getting elected and so on. Check his older articles, you'll see some fine examples of political battles (with PL), economic analysis and so on.
Coming back to our issues, Bogdan_L won the elections a month ago, and now he is the acting president. In this new position, he is using his skills not to the benefit of all people, but mostly to the benefit of his country. The stats are missing, yes (some slip through, though), but they'll be back. Now, it's time for something else.

Like in the real world, professionals have a hard time dealing with politics, but they make a much better job than politicians. Politics is a whore, and unless you are a politician, you have all the chances to get some gonorrhea or alike. And this is what you were doing in those comments in Bogdan_L' note: "unsub", "lame" etc. Why? Because he has chosen to use what he knows in helping his country? You liked him for his stats, not for him being president. We like him for his stats and his presidency run. As we do in the real world with those few good professionals we call when politicians fail. They come, do the job, get the flaming and leave. Leave and go back to do what ever they know to do best, to re-become the same professionals they were before.
Got it?
