In a move that I was unaware of,Ireland has just signed a mutual protection pact and a trade agreement with Canada. I applaud this move as this helps to secure our border and it also helps with the raw materials trade. I only wonder why nobody has been announcing this. This is deal is of paramount importance. This will work to ensure our country's continued prosperity and this deal has my full support.

In one day?! Does there not have to be a debate on this sort of thing?
That is what I was wondering about. I fully support the deal Im just not sure how much it was talked about
This was in place from the last Congress. It was approved. We could ratify it again in the new congress if there are any objections to this treaty.
President of Canada pressed us on our forum on concluding this the day after the election day. Of course, we agreed... and as your comments confirms, we done right.
Personally, I am against any sort of formal alliance which obligates our country to fight in other peoples\' wars. This sort of thing should not be hidden. I know each individual has a choice whether or not to fight, but I think we should have an oppportunity to express our views on agreements that may force us to make that choice.
Tbh MC is the one deserving most of the credit, he was handling it: negotiations, putting the issue in congress etc...
And since the treaty was ratified it wasn\'t really a choice from president. He followed the law.
@Ima...I am not questioning our new president\'s actions in this regard. I am questioning Congress\'
Closed Congress is for National Security Issues. Though once passed I think treaties should be viewable in Open Congress for the public to discuss. A MPP like this I feel secures are borders and not only that Canada will now give us a 0% Tariff for trading goods like Wood which will be needed in V1 for Housing, Hospitals and the secret building that admins aren\'t revealing yet.
I understand the current process, FD. I just do not agree with it. What is the point of viewing something, after the fact? Perhaps when we actually start electing Congressmen, they will feel more accountable to the citizenry. Somehow I doubt it, but perhaps it will be so.
Well i was going to announce it, however i realised it had been accepted 2mins before i had to run out this morning, sorry but grabbing a packet of crisps was a slightly higher priority 😛
Also to note, UK and USA want to keep relations friendly, im also in talks to secure trade agreements with everyone we boarder too.
While I commend the treaty, the closed congress discusion was ridiculous.
I was on late last night when there was no announcement of any treaty proposal and when I came home today the treaty was already ratified!!
Frankly this is disgraceful and anti democratic, we as members of the congress should have had an opportunity to either ratify or reject the treaty.
I sincerely hope that this is a one off occurance and will not happen again.
The MPP was approved, the trade agreement was a mistake. The original Canada-Ireland Alliance was supposed to have an MPP and a Trade Agreement, but both sides agreed the Irish currency was too weak and the Canadian dollar too strong. A TA only benefits Ireland as its too expensive for Canadians to sell in Ireland. So Canada will be canceling the trade agreement until the Irish economy is fully recovered. Sorry for the mix up.

Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Interior, and Natural Resources
This was negotiated by me and passed last month Igor, check the dates on the posts. We were waiting for Canada to get a new president.
So this is ImaNewbie\'s doing rather than 5n4keyes?
\"So this is ImaNewbie\'s doing rather than 5n4keyes?\"
Collins did all the work to be fair. Though um yes it is legisation from Newbies term. It\'s just Cottus (President of Canada last term) was inept at Foreign Affairs it seems.
Technically though in his words:
\"Tbh MC is the one deserving most of the credit, he was handling it: negotiations, putting the issue in congress etc...\"
Well then, it is to Michael Collins that I give my praise
Any word on the new cabinet?
mac_talla, I am sorry you feel that way, but our forums are public, for foreigners too. We can\'t have foreign affairs or security issues in public.
Could certain citizens who are checked out not be allowed access to the forums?
or at least view the forums
@Michael Collins....then access to the forums should be tighter.
That\'s what we had before, and it ended with the forums dying of inactivity
