Less Law more [insert favorite thing]

Day 823, 10:46 Published in Ireland Japan by Donovan Thomas
For those who want it short and sweet.

I would like your vote in Dublin for The Dáil.

My goals for the Dáil:

*Simplification of Legislation

*Effect change in our constitution to allow the legislative process to come more inline with game mechanics.

*Allow the people and not just the elected representatives a larger role in deciding the future of the Isle

Now for the longer explanation

Beurocratic Quagmire -or- More WAR less SNORE.

It takes 5 days minimum to pass any measure in game; two days of discussion, two days of voting, one more day of in game voting (where applicable). The issues that arose surrounding recent wars etc came about because of our inability to get our collective sh!t together in a timely manner. While other countries make things happen, we talk about things and then say “What happened?” Fixing that will be my top priority.

I will propose that legislation be dealt with in 3 days vice 5; 48 hours of discussion that begins with a public declaration in game of the TD’s measure with a link to the discussion in the forum. This will be followed by a 24hr in game vote (where applicable) or 24 hour vote in the Forum. I believe that this will streamline the process and allow those not in the Dáil to have a more active role in decision making. It will further allow the TD’s to better aim their votes to support their constituents and not just their personal views.

Ireland should be congratulated for its constitution. Brian Boru wrote an amazing living document during a time when eIreland had little else to do but practice politics. Until recently she had never declared war other than to train and still has never been attacked.

The great majority of the world is having a hell of a lot more fun than we are. There were more people online, buying, selling, laughing and yelling the day of The Battle of Belfast than any other since the Shannon Debacle.

That time is over. We now have a more active role in the region and with respect to the many who have tended that document over time (Credit to Dubh, Darragh etc) I believe that its complicated beurocratic nature leaves us in the lurch and unable to compete. There is not going back to an eIreland of heads in the sand.

We make things happen now. We don’t wait for them to happen.

V2 and Industry

I’ve been in contact with 5n4keyes in regards to many of the coming changes inherent to V2 and believe that he is by far the subject matter expert where it is concerned. Though a British citizen and member of government he still cares for eIreland (as many of her departed sons do). Though I have been a successful businessman since my e-youth I’ve never had an interest in economics beyond the company level. That said I will work closely with 5n4keyes to ensure to the best of my ability that we are prepared for V2.

Note: I am sympathetic to the Lambda Project and would like to see more data.

If you believe these are good ideas, if you wish to maintain our current momentum on the Global Stage, if you wish to prepare for Version II and not waste time arguing about “what if”, then I would be obliged to have your vote for congress.

Thank you,

Donovan Thomas.
