Hospital Debate will Rage On!!!!!

Day 786, 18:15 Published in USA USA by Marcus Patterson

Dear Readers,

This is going to be a doozy.

Two very recognizable eCitizens have brought up a discussion about building/setting new hospitals in non High-Q regions in order to increase the retention (activeness) of our citizens.

Aero's article: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/i-am-about-to-commit-heresy-q2-hospitals-for-every-state-1144097/1/20">Here, states that the eUSA should once again place a hospital (Q2 to be exact) in every state. He makes some good solid arguments. One of his main arguments is about the Polish Baby Boom that happened not too long ago. Aero states that Poland had Q5 Hospitals in every single one of their regions before the boom. He goes on to say that Poland had the infrastructure necessary to hold onto their new eBabies or new eCitizens because they didn't have to move those citizens to new regions and there citizens could actually stay put. Now to take a passage right out of his article if i may. Aero continues to state:

"Admittedly, Poland only has 6 home regions and we have 51. But the argument stands. Does the welcoming committee have the infrastructure necessary to support a Poland style baby boom in the United States? Having 2,000 new citizens a day = almost 20,000 dollars a day in Moving Tickets and dozens of volunteers. If we follow laws of averages, a repeat of Poland’s boom in the USA could conceivably give us as many as 5,000 new citizens a day. Does the welcoming committee have the infrastructure for that many new citizens?"

Ok, well, that is a very good point to bring up in my opinion. Aero believes that if the answer to that question is no, then why is the eUSA trying to start a baby boom. Here is when i start to have a different opinion. Aero states that Poland only has 6 home regions, we have 51!!! The amount of gold necessary to create those hospitals and place them in every region would be insane. Especially since we are at war right now and are possibly going to attack the eUK (everyone's fingers are crossed for that, well most are).

Personally, i don't think it is necessary. We already lost almost all of our Defense systems and hospitals when eRussia, eIndonesia, and eHungary nearly took us over (tell me if i missed any other eNation). We were left with nearly nothing, until Emerick (/cry) saved us and helped the eUSA fight back. However, because we had lost all of our hospitals, the gov't decided to just place two Q5 hospitals in eFlorida and eCalifornia (both High Q resource regions).

Woxan:
Now, for Woxan's article, he debates Aero's points and tries to disprove some common misconceptions. I will lay them out for you, but i still suggest you read his article here.

Woxan states that he want's to put the debate to rest...well, as a man of the media, why put such a great story like this to bed?!?!?! 🙂

Here is how he feels about these misconceptions:

1. Q4 Hospitals Will Help Citizen Retention in Large States and Make Us Stronger!

This was guise that fooled many of our citizens pre-invasion. I was one of them. I had the mentality that it was only 1 fight. What happens when you have 500 people who think that? That's 500 wasted fights. We had hundreds who refused to leave Tennessee, Virgina, Texas, and California, and move to Florida or New Jersey.

2. Low Hospitals Will Keep Citizens Around!

Another common misconception. As seen with pre-war vote totals and as a personal observer, low q hospitals do not aid in citizen retention in the slightest. All of the truly active citizens move to a fortress region, and the ones who refuse to move still make us stronger by creating tax revenue.

When Can We Put Down More Hospitals?

The answer is simply more citizens or another highly valuable region (Iron or Diamonds, or an Strategic Outpost), is acquired. Putting down anymore would destroy the advantage our current fortresses hold.

My Personal Beliefs:

I agree with Woxan. Yeah, that's it. Although i believe Aero's is well aware people will disagree with him and i completely understand why he feels that way, i personally believe that the amount of gold necessary just doesn't overtake or isn't worth the chance that the eUSA will lose it all again. Not to mention that eCitizens who aren't active, aren't active not because they don't have a hospital, but because the first 7-10 days of this game sucks. I'm level 14 and all i can do is write articles and work/train. Sure i have the opportunity to become a congressman but with my low level, who the hell would vote for me? So really, there is not much to do until you have the gold to be able to start a company, or experience to go into politics, or the xp/strength level to fight major battles. I honestly think its just the game mechanics that makes people inactive.

*If you disagree with me or find my opinions to be awesome and amazing, let me know. Please comment, vote, sub, do whatever you like but please be respectful of other people's opinions and be kind!*

That is all readers. Also, on a side note. eTurkey is on the offensive against eGreece after the freedom of Slovenia was brought about by Pheonix.

Sincerely,
Marcus Patterson
