Food .... what food?!?!?!

As you will be able to see Australia is in short supply of food. To put it in other words "If your going to invest in food, DO IT NOW!!!!", its as simple as that.
The order of priority currently stands as follows:
1. Q4
2. Q3
3. Q1
4. Q5
5. Q2
I highly recommend that you go to the higher qualities if you have the gold, if you don't have enough please leave a comment asking if you could invest in another company to get them to a higher quality.
If your going to create a food company, or have in the last 2 days please comment so that people can tell how many companies have been made otherwise we will have too many and an oversupply will occur.
Comments
Carpenters pancakes was started yesterday already has around 12 workers currently is Q1 and sells very quickly when ever stock comes out
sells around 1.26 after tax
Too add to this,
We have had a huge shortage of all Q foods in the last 2 days and this is going to start starving our fellow citizens.
@ Carpenters box - awesome, we need to get it as close to 1 AUD as we can so that new citizens can afford it
yes it would be good to have it at 1 AUD will be down there when these new people train up 🙂
I understand that, I was just stating my goals 😃
How is there a shortage of food? Every time I look at the market there is plenty of food on the market. Please explain so I can better understand.
There IS however a shortage of Gifts. I can see many times throughout the day no Gifts Available on the market.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/market/country-50-industry-1-quality-0
Earlier there were two bits of q1 food on the market and that was it, I alerted Patti who alerted Corny and that's why this article has been written I believe.
There are plenty of gifts on the market, the reason there is never many is that, myself, the Minister for Human Services, has the job of gifting all citizens in the whole of the eCountry who need it and as part of my mandate I get the gifts off the market and obviously there is a huge demand when you're gifting practically the whole country.
Also don't forget Centrelink, it has a company called Medicare (Centrelink is a governmental organisation) with over 100 q1 gifts in stock atm.
oh....I was planning on moving here but if theres a famine then sod it. I have no money to buy food. Spent it all on ticket...
@ Far Flung Enterprises - what widdows said
@ Comrade Robb - there is food on the market, just not a solid supply
@widdows - how does this gifting thing work? I've never received a gift from the government...
because you don't read governembt formulas which determine who receives it
i could make Q3 in about a week....
good article. its true we are suffering a food shortage 🙁
Do we have the workers to staff all these new food companies? Or are those workers in other industries, and the food industry needs to pay better wages. Which will drive prices up. Which will defeat the entire purpose of setting up more companies to produce cheaper food.
If the government wants to give me a grant I'll set up a Q1 food company. I'd only need 95% of the startup costs. 🙂
new Q1 food companys will have to look for brand new citizens to staff there company. Higher skill manufacuring people generally hard to find or you will find them in the high Q companys where they can get a better wage
There used to be a lot of Q1 food companies back when there was a glut of new citizens. It was needed to feed all those new people. But it looks like now that many of those companies have upgraded to Q2. The main problem I see isn't so much a lack of companies ( like what plagues our Gift industry ), but a lack of skilled employees. Food companies generally do not pay a high as Gift or Weapons companies. It's a less labor-intensive product plus we want to keep our costs low to keep food prices low. However, our Food companies are loosing skilled employees to higher paying jobs offered by the Gift and Weapon companies. The only solutions I can see are to have the Gift and Weapons companies lower their wages so the Food companies can compete for the higher skilled workers ( Not nice. No one likes to see their wages reduced. ) Or Food Companies must start paying higher wages. In which case, we all have to accept the resulting inflation.
I dunno Crazy ... I left the Gift Company I was working for because I got just a bit more of a half of what the highest paying food company offered.
I did check a few things a couple of days ago.
There are 51 eCountries.
- In 14 of them, the highest paid job for a newcomer in a Q1 company is less than the cheapest available Q1 food. Australia was one of them, but I have seen food for under $1, just not on a regular basis.
- In Moldavia and South Korea, food seemed to be a shortage in general. Mexico and Moldavia didn't have any job offers.
- In quite a few countries, your money goes a long way when it comes down to food. Two extreme examples: job Q1/0 skill = 9.5 money Q1 food = 1.98 money - 15 money paid, 2.02 money for 1 Q1 food.
What are we doing wrong compared to those countries?
People in jobs just are not active anymore. I have some employees that have been gone for almost a week. My stock in food - always runs out because i price it as the cheapest in the market.
Even if I would like to lower my prices further - the demand for food just seems to be too high that another company who has an oversupply of Q2 food that is not lowering prices is obviously still selling its stock. My business prerogative would be to set prices nearer to the norm.
Well I've only just got to the stage where my food is about on par with my wage. The gold I got at lvl 6 has paid for me to get better food and keep gradually increasing my wellness and productivity. As far as the countries medicare system??? I've never seen any benefit from it.
I just hope I can snare some employees as good as me when I start a company 🙂
The problem The People's Food is having, which is likely the same as other food companies, is that the workers show up, work for a day and then are never seen again. There simply is not enough skilled work to go around at the moment.
What do you do to make your workers' experience worthwhile?
Do you engage with your employees? Do you send them a welcome message? Do you offer to be their friend? Do you offer to help with food and gifts until they can fend for themselves? Do you ask them if they need help or advice?
Your workers are obviously not getting enough out of their experience in the new world and so choose not to return.
You are partially responsible for them not returning if you do nothing to get them to stay.
Insightful...if we did nothing to keep our real life employees we would lose them too...maybe more people need to work at running their business rather than assuming it will run itself.
ambrose, actually I do send welcome messages to all my employees, some do reply, some don't and yet remain loyal workers. I even have a forum in place for their concerns. The problem really is with the lower skill level workers (newbs) they show up for a few days and then become inactive.
I wouldn't pay much attention to the economic stats of Mexico, Moldavia, and South Korea. The Koreans are ruled by a strict dictatorship who control the economy to the extent that only members of the ruling party are able to survive. Mexico was recently invaded and almost totally taken over by the USA. The Portuguese have driven the Americans out of half the territory the Americans took from Mexico. There's still no sign whether the Portuguese will liberate these territories or declare war of Mexico to take territory on the boarder with the USA in order to invade across the vulnerable southern boarder into America's Iron-producing regions. Getting almost totally conquored has a way of really screwing up the economy. And Moldavia? There's such a country? I thought for sure the Romanians would have taken them over.
@ The People's Cause: Yes, my good competitor, you have hit the nail on the head. The real problem is the growth of the Cult of Inactivity. It has spread it's influence to many relatively new citizens. More than half of my manufacturing work force hasn't shown up for work in over 5 days. They're busy worshipping their Nihilist God. Production has dropped to a seventh of what it once was.
What we don't need right now is more companies.
I believe i have found one of the problems
http://www.erepublik.com/en/company/australian-foods-180559
Companys with more than 10 workers kill thier productivity
spread over 2 companys they could be producing twice as much at a cheaper price
I quite agree - what medicare system??? Since I started, I have gradualy been increasing my health, but with NO food on the market above Q2, and now working for a Q3 company, HOW am I, or any other worthwhile worker, supposed to keep up our health? If this so called medicare system even exists, it needs to be overhauled to ONLY support citizens who actualy WORK at least most days.
Great article... its true. Being in need of better than Q3 food, it's hard to find. Because of this, my willness is hovering between 30 and 50, as an employee, my company Vegimite Sandwichs (Q2 food) cannot get me to work as efficient as i could be for them to further supply food. If anyone can privetly give me better than Q3 food i am happy to pay the following prices:
Q4 foo😛 $7.50
Q5 foo😛 $10
