eFooty Tipping - New and Improved with NRL
Ilene Dover
At the risk of flogging a dead horse, I'm going to open up this weekly competition to the white-man square dancing competit...err...I mean NRL fans.
How's it going to work? Endorse this article for $10 to buy a tip for the listed AFL or NRL game. If somehow the two codes can co-exist in your head, or you just like gambling, endorse the article for $25 to buy a tip for each game (sorry, extra bookkeeping for me means extra cost for you). Post your tipped winner(s) and margin(s) in the comments. Correct tip and closest margin will take the pot for that code, plus my tips (since I can't endorse my own article). Obviously, no double ups on margins and tips though bracketing around someone is both funny and accepted. First come - first served.
Tips will be taken until bounce down, or whatever the start of an NRL game is called (a kickoff?).
So, to Friday night Footy for the AFL: North Melbourne V Essendon at Etihad Stadium. If you're drug addled like the average Bombers fan, these pictures will help.

And for the inaugural NRL inclusion.... Paramatta Eels V Canterbury Bulldogs, at ANZ Stadium. The obligatory pictures for concussed NRL fans:

Don't understand the game? AFL is an Aussie winter pastime, except for the wankers from NSW and Queensland. It involves men in shorts shorter than the Village People ever wore and muscle shirts giving each other hugs for tackles. And trying to kick goals. Every goal is worth 6 points, but if you miss by a little bit you still get 1 point. So, the score will end up being something like 6.10 (46), which means 6 goals and 10 misses which adds up to 46 points in total.
The NRL? It stands for National Rugby League. If you like Rugby Union (where real teams like the Wallabies, All Blacks and Springboks play), you'll hate the NRL. It's got all the stupid rules, like no forward passing, with some added weird ones. No mauls (at least that I've seen), one less player and the try scoring is all wrong...

Finally! You're doing the true aussie sport!

NRL is about as unrepresentatively Aussie as the AFL. Outside the eastern seaboard, nobody cares! 🙂
The rest of us prefer our rugby played hard, or soccer. Or hockey, in the outlier of WA...
Well done on winning the first NRL round. Especially as the only serious contender. 🙂

was a close game, thought you were going to win it
