Wie roept ons?

Wie roept ons, wie roept ons?
De stem uit den tijd
Van ‘t roemrijk verleden,
Van hen, die toen streden,
Van tachtig jaar strijd.

Wie roept ons, wie roept ons?
Een volk, dat nog lijdt,
Het roept om bevrijding
Het wacht op de tijding:
“Sta op, het is tijd!”

Wie roept ons, wie roept ons?
Een land nog in nood,
Met zorg nog beladen,
Het vraagt ons om daden,
Komt, maakt het weer groot!

De stem van de trouw,
Zij vraagt ons bewijzen
Ons land moet herrijzen
Met ‘t rood, wit en blauw

Wie roept ons, wie roept ons?
De stem van ‘t verzet,
Zij vraagt ons te geven
Als ‘t moet zelfs ons leven,
Ons land moet gered!

De stem van den heer,
Hij geeft ons Zijn Zegen,
De vrijheid herkregen,
ORANJE keert weer!

Poems of Resistance

The original poem is in Dutch, and our translation does lack the original rhyme, but still, here is a rough translation:

Who calls us?

Who calls us, who calls us?
The voice of the time
From glorious past,
Of those who then fought,
Eighty years of struggle.

Who calls us, who calls us?
A nation that still suffers,
It calls for liberation
It waits for the news:
"Get up, it's time!"

Who calls us, who calls us?
A country still in need,
Still loaded with care,
It calls for us to act,
Come, make it great again!

Who calls us, who calls us?
The voice of the faithful,
She demands us to prove
Our country must rise
With its red, white and blue

Who calls us, who calls us?
The voice of resistance,
She asks us to give
If it must even our lives,
Our country must be saved!

Who calls us, who calls us?
The voice of the Lord,
He gives us His blessing,
Freedom regained,
ORANGE returns again!
