Announcing the Best Empress Day Ever!

Day 687, 01:10 Published in Japan Japan by Nihon no Koe

The Ministry of Internal Affairs' Department of Culture and Events is pleased to present our Empress Day celebrations!

Now, if we recall last month, the event kind of flopped… we have worked at the matter and have improved the event by leaps and bounds! There is now more to do, more to see, and more love you can give your empress candidates!

What is Empress Day?
For those not familiar, you can find out about the origin of Empress day here:
http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/History/13_April_2009
We hold an event every month to find the most exceptional candidate for “Empress” to represent the beauty, brilliance and all over amazing qualities that represent our glorious nation of Japan. This role is kind of like a national mascot for a month.

Candidates are nominated for the role and the citizens of Japan vote and decide which candidate is the best to represent our imperial family, and country, for the month. This candidate becomes our Empress, and for the two days of Empress Day we celebrate her magnificence as an icon of Japan.

So how will it work this month?

This month empress day will be held at the end of an interesting competition amongst our candidates. The entire event will be in three (3) phases:

Phase One: Nominations (Wednesday-Thursday)

Citizens of eJapan may nominate their desired candidates for Empress. We will accept any number of candidates, but each eJapanese citizen may only nominate one (1) candidate.

Due to issues last month, candidates will be mildly limited by the following set of rules: 1) Each candidate must have a name that is used other than to list the voice actor given to them. 2) Our previous empress is not permitted to run. 3) All candidates must be anime Characters that are naturally/normally female. 4) Upon nomination, the nominator must submit an image of the candidate.

We caution those who nominate to consider their positions, as this month the citizen of eJapan who nominated their candidate will be in charge of representing and presenting their candidate in our series of events. This role is similar to a manager. The nominator also has the option of signing over all managerial rights to someone else.

The nomination thread can be found here:

This brings us to our second phase.

Phase Two: Competition (Events: Friday-Saturday Voting: Sunday-Monday)

There will be five events total for your candidate to participate in. These competitions will test your candidate in the eyes of the public on a number of traits an ideal empress should have.

For each event the public will be able to vote on which candidate performed the best. The top four (4) candidates will receive points for their ranks (1st - 4, 2nd - 3, 3rd - 2, 4th -1). All other candidates will receive 0 points for that round. However, your candidate need only participate in at least three (3) of the competitions. Any candidate that fails to present themselves in at least three (3) events will be disqualified.

The final scoring will look at each candidate’s top three (3) scores to determine a winner. In the case of a tie additional scores will be taken into consideration. In the case of a tie, the candidate whose next highest score is of greater value than their opponent will win. Participating in an event and gaining 0 points will beat a candidate who did not participate in as many events in a tie. So it behooves your candidate to participate in all the events!

Events will be announced immediately following nominations.

UPDATE: The Events can be found HERE.

Phase Three: Empress Day (13th-14th)

Phase Three will begin with the announcement of who will be our new Empress for the month. After that we will hold various celebrations throughout the next two days:

There will be a formal gathering the first day and there will be a casual one the second. Both will be in IRC on the Coldfront server. The Empress’ manager will represent the empress at both.

On the Nippon.net forum, games that involve the empress will be created by the Ministry staff for eJapanese citizens to play. These games will be available for both days.

We will also create a thread for the Empress herself via her manager, to the specifications of her manager. This thread will be open for the remainder of the month until the next empress is chosen. Specifications for the thread will be held within reason.

What can I do?

Citizens of eJapan can participate in Empress Day in a variety of aspects.

-Nominating and representing an Empress Candidate
-Observing competitions and voting in polls to help pick our empress
-Attending the events on the final day

This event is for everyone, and the more the merrier. We expect to see great things this month, and we are looking forward to an exciting Empress Day!
