I would first direct you to this link.
If you're like me, and you're generally too unfocused to follow two articles at once, allow me to summarize:
eRomania has declared war on eIran. I wish I could say that this must be old news for you all, but aside from some link spamming I haven't seen a whipser of this in the national media. Tax arguments and spam articles are the keynote of the moment. More importantly, the eRomanian President makes the claim that this is "an ATLANTIS mission" and that it "is recieving international support from all our allies".
All? Including the eUS? Funny, I don't remember being told our military was going to support a direct military action against eIndonesia. I don't remember being told that we would be a part of a mission with the direct intention of blocking the expansion of eastern nations, as well as the liberation of eChinese regions and the possible establishment of eUS military outposts.
Allow me to direct you to a second official statement by eRomania's President: Here.
The major point I want you to notice here is that this is obviously not some simple bluff. The eRomanian President threatens the use of a political coup in order to defeat these nations.
"If you will, by the means of switching regions between countries, avoid fighting trough the Erepublik war module, we will have no alternative than to move the battlefield in the politics. We will break down every bit of joy you might have in the game."
That is not a joke. That is a serious threat to the well-being of these nations, and I have no doubt in my mind that they will see it as such.
Why am I forced to scrounge for information on things of this nature? Why did I only find out about it by a random spammed link in the comments section of a random article? Why have we not seen any response from the eUS government in light of these statements? I understand that there's another in a long series of heated tax debates underway, but I feel as if I am being forced to point out that we are not playing this game alone.

Voted and subscribed everytime I write an article about war or foreign affairs nobody votes or reads these articles. So I write about things that recently happens to draw readers to my newspaper(The Free Thinkers Journal). I have another article drawn up
about buying citizens votes later in the day.
It's just...I almost wish that the eUS had committed to this because it would at leat show that there's a solid foriegn policy with solid goals that are being aimed at.
This though...it's not even reactionary. It's nothing.
Golly! ATLANTIS is the Sham-Wow™ of alliance systems, used by Romanians and other powers as a blunt-instrument justification for unabashed expansionism? Who knew?
I'm no fan of eIran, but remember how I wrote in my news-blog-paper about how the Treaty of ATLANTIS is kind of ridiculous, and how by ceding our foreign policy grand strategy to this bloated alliance system, we would invariably end up compromising our strategic interests? Remember how I predicted we'd get played in India? Remember how I asked that one time whether the current government of the eUSA actually had any notion of "strategic interests"?
That's petulant *I was right*-ism.
So I'm running for congress in NY. Think on it, y'all 🙂
The problem though, Dru, which I was trying to point out in the article, is the utter lack of communication we've recieved from out government on the matter.
I don't think it has anything to do with our membership in ATLANTIS. I think the issue lies with the current way we operate internally.

No offence but thats why there are officers, they know about this stuff and they discuss about this. Normal soldiers dont get told anything until a few days before. This is how we keep information secure and not being blabbed around the the newspapers/forums and IRC channels.
Also bare in mind that you are only 4 strength, so thats NG status. So you WONT be sent anywhere in terms of battles which dont directly affect the eUSA.

Well I guess I feel the need to once again point out that the overall point of my article was not a condemnation of eRomania's actions, but rather a frustration with
A) The overall lack of interest/concern shown by both the eAmerican government and its people in regards to what is a fairly important international event. I would also add that this bleeds into an even greater frustration with the seemingly non-existant eUS goals in terms of international affairs.
and
😎 The fact that we have another country's President making claims that, on paper, commit eUS forces to military action and eUS citizens to political overthrow.
@Suikoda: I'm not writing any of this from the position of a member of the NG, I'm writing this from the position of an eUS citizen who would like to be told what is going on.
I'm not talking specific battle plans, attack times, etc. I'd be fine with an official statement confirming or denying these claims, as opposed to what we've recieved so far (rea😛 nothing).

we cant even make a statement as some plans may change.
You do receive some information which is trivial such as war games. Its such a normal thing now that we dont mind if it gets to the international section.
Imagine that the president writes an article claiming that we want to send tanks, (no battle plans, timing or anything), to a battle against the indos or whatever and because this is a high population country and some people dont think but they keep on voting it and it reaches international then the indos find out, then its all s**t blown out of the water now. Whats the point in sending them?
Theres no element of surprise.
The citizens have to realize that's something that happens.
In RL do you hear official statements from the military? NO
same with erep, but you dont complain in RL so why comeplain in erep?
I must say that this is all written with sincerity and i am not taking the mick what so ever, i am merely trying to point out the obvious/basics.
Well then the President better get the eRomanian President to shut the hell up.

You're right Hari, this is big news. And if I was paranoid, I'd say the whole 'more taxes to restore the treasury, oops now we want it for RAWR' makes more sense with this context.
I don't know how Atlantis works, but if the military and the president can declare war without Congress, the RAWR caucus to pull this stunt plenty. And that's a problem.
Judging by the failed wars on France & Portugal, I'd say the RAWR caucus hasn't made the most stellar choices. And I'm not sure what evidence we have that they'll make better choices now.
I don't believe that war can be declared without Congressional approval. If I understand things correctly though, you could probably deploy the expeditionary branches of the military without the need to declare war, if provided the proper funding.
Hari. The military knows what's going on. And we have had plans already in place for a while now.
If you were involved in any movement, you would've received orders already.
One again, what I've said here has been ignored.
It's not about movement orders. It's about our government giving us a bit of a clue as to what they're throwing us into. I shouldn't have to hear about eAmerican involvement in this situation from the boasting of another nation's leader.
And I'd be fine if the rest of our "allies" would boil along with me.
Instead, we've got war declarations and claims of eAmerican support in military efforts, from leaders who don't represent me or my nation.
And not only that, but once again I have to say that I am more than slightly disconcerted by the fact that no one around me seems to even show a passing interest in these developments. As far as I can see the citizens are too busy yelling at Congress about taxes, and Congress is too busy yelling at itself about the same thing.
Take for example eSwitzerland's declaration of war on eItaly. While this does not affect the eUS directly, it still alters the political landscape. The only thread I've seen about this in the eUS forums was created by an average citizen, and aside from a few throwaway posts, it hasn't been touched.
Maybe there are things I just don't understand. Maybe the government has its finger on the New World's pulse more than it would appear. But it doesn't leave me with a lot of confidence.
Q : "non-existant eUS goals in terms of international affairs."
hmmm... 😁
