We Must ALL Participate to Solve Our Problems!
Deus Ex
Regardless of the results of today's election, I just want to publicly reaffirm the commitment of myself and Black Lion Front to the expansion of direct democracy and public participation in South Africa. We are facing a lot of varying and complicated issues in our nation today and it's best we all come together to work out a solution. This active participation by ALL CITIZENS is hugely important and much more effective than basing opinions off of a few articles most people don't bother reading and a yes/no vote in the senate.
Brendan Austerion has set up the official South Africa forum a short time back and I encourage ALL citizens to join and discuss events.

Only by coming together as one can we solve our problems. Regardless if I become your president tomorrow or not I hope you will all join me in taking part in making South Africa a better place.

Direct Democracy ! *Does the boogie dance*
I do not support the idea of a direct democracy.
Wheter you belive it or not, Ryan, congressmen are people chosen.
They have been picked by a party leader to run for the party in congress but in the real end it is all up to the people.
Since I got 3 votes in the last congressional I am representing two other persons.
Do this mean that for the next congressional elections DAS and BLF won't put any of it's members up for congress? No it don't and that is why the idea of a direct democracy won't work in this game. How will you reach your goal? Through total contol in the congress? Isn't that dictatorship?
Even if it did work it would only mean we would get contoled by some other foreign or totalitarian power (speaking of the crotians). I'm a socialist and I support the idea of equality of all human beings but as the game won't allow it and it's not RL it won't work.
Wise words Deus Ex.
Rhood is correct in one thing, at least, the mechanics of the game does not allow for Direct Democracy, Representative Democracy is the only way. HOWEVER, the more people actively participate in something like the eSA forum and air their views, the better they can be represented by those elected into Congress.
Sexy words, Deus. You are aglow with sexiness.
@Rhoo😛 Socialism does not work and the reason is because all humans are not equal. In the RL work force there are people that work and produce and there are people that ride the clock only putting in time. Those two types are not equal and should not be receiving equal remuneration. I agree that all humans should have the same rights and the same access to justice and education but they should only receive that which they earn - unless they are incapable of earning.
@Rhoo😛
Please stop slandering my article, this is a call to greater participation of all South Africans to discuss our problems. What you are talking about is nothing even remotely related to my article.
@Moishe: Lucky for us that in this game, those who don't earn their keep die, eh? 😛
Huzzah! Activity! I don't remember if I joined the forum already...
Also, people aren't going to participate on a forum when there is nothing to participate in.
It should be up to those who dominate the media and who sit on the council to create threads discussing these things where the rest can consequently join in. Just a thought.
^That's a rather undemocratic thing to say, isn't it? So according to you regular folks who aren't media barons or government members should not be able to take any initiative? They can only follow the leader, not bring up their own issues or bring things to the attention of others? Just respond to what "Big Brother" thinks? This, sir, is an idea I reject unanimously. Everyone is equal, everyone has a say.
