Without any further notice an important modification to the game engine has been introduce
😛regions with raw materials unconnected (i.e. not connected through a link of neighbouring regions hold by the same country) to the capital will not be available. The new "Trade Route" rule applies to original regions too.

UPDATE #1
About one and a half hour ago Plato announced the implementation of the new trade route system on the official eRepublik forum:
"Starting today, your country will need transport routes for the regions located far away from your motherland. What does this mean exactly? It means that all your regions will have to be connected to the CAPITAL of your country in order to provide the productivity bonuses. Isolated regions will no longer provide any bonus. The above improvement opens a new era of strategical warfare. "

Original Russian territory Kaliningrad that had been disconnected from Russian mainlands as default has been made neighbouring Leningrad Oblast. Other original territories disconnected from their capital region due to occupation, and unconnected occupied territories are labelled "No direct transport route to the capital" from now on.

I await the further analysis.
Well written article SHM, as usual, however, as AC said too "I await the further analysis." 🙂
Btw, Vasmegye, how are you nowadays, mate? 🙂
This is interesting. I wish I knew what motivated the admin to make some of these changes.
So no more fortresses like Karnakata and Hello Kitty? I am disappoint.
Why?
Guess it adds some strategy? Have to try something considering how they have destroy the rest of the strategy in the game.
Only problem with this "supply routes" idea is their isn't enough regions. Instead of renting needing 1 region, it would need maybe 2 or more. Could end up occupying alot of a country just by renting. Perhaps they should add an option for countries to agree supply routes, possibly even placing an item for a region.. like a hospital, but "Roads".
That sounds like a good idea Seanan. It would add considerable depth to the economic aspect of the game if their were transport routes or something.
It could add to strategy.
i'd love to see manageable infrastructures on a national level, too. Another way for governments to spend gold and to control or encourage economic investment.
I really want to read these articles, but don't have the time ;_;
I'll be back
I'm really not liking this update. I think it would have been cool if they had made ACTUAL trade routes. You could fight or barter for them. Basically like shipping lanes or highways. The regions HAVE to be connected to the capital? This means LONG land bridges that just won't work. New strategy my left foot. This is another poor patch up by the admins.
It needs to have MPP'd nations territories allowed as active trading routes. Then this would be a smart and interesting change
Sweet Drinker makes an especially good point. Maybe someone should write to the Admins on the forum if no one has already. Then again, the admins apparently don't pay much attention to that.
Thanks for the update man also do you will this lead to a cancelling of the US rental of wexford
