CP Update Day 1118

John Gormley
Apparently a week is a long time in politics and certainly the week that has passed since the Presidential election last Sunday epitomises that truism very well.
I am hoping tonight to report on some of the things that have happened in that time.
Ministry of Defence:
When I took over we were the subject of an all-out invasion and we subsequently lost all our regions. Since then though we have reclaimed four of them and the other two of our original regions are in the hands of a trusted ally. I think that's a good turnaround in less than a week.
The biggest talking point in this Ministry has been OJ's appointment as Co-Minister. Unfortunately my gamble of appointing him does not look like paying off, and I concede that if the Dáil votes to remove him I will have to do so. I swear I had good intentions in appointing him, and I am sorry if it has caused any feelings of anger or resentment. It looks like the move has backfired on me big-time, so I accept in hindsight it was probably a mistake.
Ministry of Finance:
This Ministry has not worked as well as I had hoped and, frustratingly, it is largely my fault. I appointed DashRiprock and Octavius Dryst which turned out to not be the best team because the latter had to resign and the former does not have very much time on his hands currently.
At the moment Dash is doing the job on his own but I may add someone soon to help him out.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
In contrast, this Ministry is doing very well under JohnSmith 2K9.
John began by revitalising the Ambassador program that was so successful in the past.
Lately, he has been negotiating with the Americans over exchange of high resource regions. I must also add that I am in favour of Shannon being kept by eUSA, so I will be working out the details of that.
I have been in near constant contact with John and he is doing Trojan work in terms of communicating with our allies. I am very happy with the progress he is making.
Ministry of New Citizens:
I have also been in contact a lot with fr0fr0 each day. Michael Hook not so much but he knows this Ministry inside-out so I trust him to do well even when I'm a bit out of touch with him.
fr0fr0 has been telling me that he has interesting ideas to try out, and I am looking forward to seeing those.
Also, the old org was lost so a new org was create😛
Irish Citizens Ministry
Community:
I think I may have found a real gem in James Keiller. 🙂
He really knows what he's doing in this Ministry.
He took over a pretty dead Ministry last Monday. Since then, he has published 2 excellent articles in which he very much revived the old favourites of the Community Awards and the National Lottery.
Plus, he has some more interesting ideas in the pipeline.
Moreover, not only is the Ministry self-financing it is in fact making a profit and sending this profit on to New Ireland Bank.
It is an understatement to say I am happy with James.
Immigration:
I am glad to report that Jacques Cousteau is another man doing a good job.
He is using the usual procedure of asking citizenship candidates to fill in the answers to a 7-question form and judging their suitability for citizenship from that.
Jacques is doing a quiet but efficient job in this role and I am satisfied I picked the right man for this job.
Well, that's about it. I am happy to have completed a decent first week in the job and I hope I will do as well next week.
I will leave you with the latest popular horse song. 🙂

Cool and nice song btw 😃
It's been a weird week. Great job so far John.
Good, honest update. 🙂
Way to stand behind your choice, Gormley. Like a tower of Jello.
Stand your ground Gormley ffs, f*ck the Dail
To be honest, even if my appointment was controversial it still doesn't mean the MoD/CoS hasn't done a good job.
IMO, Marcus, Sennan and I have done a great job, haven't heard much from Boris. Last I heard he quit the CoS position?

Seriously? Speaking as an OJ supporter...you honestly didn't know? CP appoints MoD who has been impeached and who has stolen gold from the state, doesn't that sound familiar? Also, I've heard no complaints, meaning this is all smokey backroom communication once again. Not that MoD is an area I know much about, but what has OJ done wrong so far, other than changing the rules of #IDFSupply?
Chin up mate, it's not as if you can do worse than the real Irish government!
rofl
Quick, secure the DoD Orgs before OJ can steal them and melt them down.
Quick, secure the DoD Orgs before OJ can steal them and melt them down.
x2
gormely have to seriously disagree mate
i think hes done an alri job
secondly why would you have even considered him if he was a gamble ?
surely you have learnt from past examples?
so which of your supporters threatened to ack out in order to get him out of office i wonder ?
most are never re-elected man so tell them where to shove it and stand by your decisions because this just made you look weak and considering this is a political shark pit ...............
but other than that your doin well bud best of luck 🙂
and congrats so far
ps change those passwords if i was you cos after that id prob say fair play if oj robed you blind
Cpl, Too late, i already spent all the money i was given muhuhahah pity I donated it all to people who requested it in #IDFSupply :'(
Also Stark, That isn't necessarily wrong..
That sond is brillant!! heard it saw/saw the video on face book the other day. Gas!
Your doing a great job man keep it up!
Good article John. What do we get in return for SA having two of our regions?
"Unfortunately my gamble of appointing him does not look like paying off"
It has paid off, with the help of OJ and the ICA along with the IDF we have retaken the regions.
Im happy with how we are doing, unfortunte people in the dail dont focus on doing their jobs like sorting the economy and just complain all the time.
"so I accept in hindsight it was probably a mistake."
It wasnt a mistake you had the balls to make a tough choice, it is paying off as we have not seen one problem yet bar the dails insessent complaining as I said above.
good work John ,its great working for ya.
and i may not be fan of OJ, but i support you for at trying to bring the ICA and IDF together when we lost all our regions.
``I am glad to report that Jacques Cousteau is another man doing a good job.

`` As a TD I have heard nothing of who to approve or not. He might be doing this but approving them is up to the TD's who aren't being told who to allow in or not.
Boo, don't cave to the naysayers, you are doing fine as is Ireland, esp military wise, you have indeed made a wise choice and even the twits of our great country are benefiting. Stay the course, the ICA and the IDF working together better then expected

Wow. Fifth website I've logged onto today and someone has that song up. Wow.
Still though, I can work and eat so things are running smoothly enough if you ask me. But, EDEN seems to be missing from these updates. Aon scéal on that?
"The biggest talking point in this Ministry has been OJ's appointment as Co-Minister. Unfortunately my gamble of appointing him does not look like paying off."
Tell that to the Brits 🙂
Bottom line is that Marcus and OJ have done a spectacular job. I would say that the gamble has paid off with a handsome return. There will always be those that oppose your decisions, that's politics for you. I think you should hold your head up high, and be proud of the courageous decision to try to put the mistakes and differences of the past behind us.
There will be those who disagree with me, I have no doubt. But OJ and Marcus were, and are, simply the best possible team to deal witht the difficult situation we found ourselves in.
I mean the gamble hasn't paid off in the sense that I will not be able to keep him there.
I would love to stand by the appointment no matter what. I even told OJ I would stand by him as much as possible. I would resist calls from individual citizens such as Nog, Castaneda, Kavrocks and so forth to remove him no matter how angry they were. I would even face the threat of impeachment if I had to.
But when the Dáil is against it that's different. I feel accountable to the Dáil.
This whole thing is a massive "damned if you do and damned if you don't" type situation for me. In such a situation one should make a decision and just stand by it. That's what I tried to do before the Dáil forced my hand.
It is a shame because other than several complaints of OJ's disrespect he was doing a good job IMO.
ok fair play man
OJ, disrespectful? NEVER...er...well...uhhhh.
It's not disrespect, it's tough love, disrespect; he'd just kick and ban ya. So suck it up, blow ya noses, wipe the tears, grab your rifle and get your a$$ on that front line N O W!!!
Us ICA types are already familiar with his kind and heartfelt words.
John, props to you for making the decision to nominate OJ.
Good article, good job so far John
John one problem, Present tense not past 😛
Just for info I didn't quit. I'm doing just fine. People know what I did and what I'm doing for Ireland...
Btw. when OJ just got appointed, I didn't want to change #IDFSupply room's topic to some ICA orders so I lost all OJ's symphaties. It wasn't supposed to be anything personal but just one wrong step and you'll find yourself on the OJ's menu. lol
Boris you lost my sympathy because you are a little snake and a moaner. You practically started crying because you didn't want to share the CoS job. Marcus has logs (In which you said you quit)
Also, "I didn't want to change #IDFSupply room's topic to some ICA orders" The ICA hasn't released orders since my appointment other than 1 day (which the IDF also released). You wouldn't change the topic because you were claiming that you were just an average soldier after resigning from CoS so it wasn't your job..
OJ please don't hide behind that ORG, have balls and say that directly. You're the only person who shows so much disrespect to me and calls me "moaner" which I'm not. I could be your father, I mean physically, but after all this I'd give you for adoption if that was a case. You're just teenage plotter. But I won't insult you as you insulted me. After all that support and symphaty for you, you just show how ungrateful you are and how easy for you is to turn back to people who trusted you and who considered you as a friend. Remember those supplies I gave you when others told me not to give you anything? I couldn't leave an Irishman without supplies in battle... I really couldn't believe what kind of backstabber you are...
Interesting Boris.
I hear ya.
Seems people only see the light when they are bleeding personally from an OJ attack.
Ah well, one by one he "does it to himself, he does"
Now I just smirk when I see his wee orange bod. Ahhh, poor wee thing, so much to learn in how to control himself, before he starts trying to control others 😃!
Well, interesting theory Grainne, but sometimes it's the only way. You can see, no matter what you did for Ireland after first time not to do what he wants, everything is easily forgotten and you're at his gunpoint.
