[TH]o Congress: Learn about eRepublik economics before you change taxes

Day 980, 22:42 Published in Thailand New Zealand by Thingol

I am referring to today's tax change for iron which passed congress at a huge majority. The new taxes encourage people to work in iron companies and even to create new iron companies in Thailand, whereas import of foreign iron is now taxed higher.

This is bullshit.

1. Thailand's iron companies will never be competitive as we do not have high resource areas.
2. The iron industry is one of the least profitable on a global scale. The only way to make profit with iron is to sell it overpriced to weapon companies with inexperienced managers who do not know how to purchase their iron abroad.

Really, we should not have iron companies (the same for stone, titanium, oil, and grain) in Thailand.

I fear that our current congress consists mainly of people who do not know enough about eRepublik economics to make sound decisions. This makes me sad. I don't want to watch Thailand's economy being fucked up. This is why I left the country. I will also temporarily close down the company I am managing.

I will be back in time before the next congress elections, and I hope that I get the chance to help to repair our economy then.
