MILITARY AFFAIRS

As part of our landswap deal, the USA has finally reached its target region: Chubu. Feel free to fight for experience, but be aware that this not a battle we intend to win.

FOREIGN POLICY

The war between Japan and South Korea has finally ended. Although the peace process was plagued with needless bugs and plenty of admin rigamarole, as discussed here, our two nations depart on amiable terms. Japan wishes South Korea well and hopes that the nation will be able to sort out its domestic troubles in due time.

ELECTIONS

A new Diet is coming. Tomorrow, day 1131, congressional elections will open and citizens will be able to vote for candidates across our nation. The men and women of the new Diet will have to face unique challenges: the landswap with the USA needs to be concluded, a treaty and an MPP dotted and signed; other potential MPPs need to be debated and possibly negotiated; and perhaps the most important point of all, war must be waged on the admins. Yes, you read that last part right. The most efficient way for a nation to void its natural enemy is to declare war on eRepublik itself. Choose your candidates wisely, Japan!

It must be noted that one fortunate side effect of the American landswap is that certain troublesome wildcard regions will be occupied by the US during the elections, further minimizing Japan's chances of being PTO'd. Here is the JEC's list of non-PTO candidates, reprinted in full.

LAW AND ORDER

-Day 1127: Peace with Korea. The final vote was 7-1.
-Day 1126: Peace with Korea (bugged). The final vote was 22-4.
-Day 1125: 312 gold was transferred to the National Bank of Japan. The final vote was 20-5.
-Day 1125: Natural enemy was set to the USA, as part of our landswap plan. The final vote was 18-6.
