[I&W] Congress Election in Flanders and the UNL

Day 706, 08:42 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Kixtart

I&W had 14 candidates that were going to go for congress this month. When we lost the RW in Flanders, AndreasIssakson, Deviltje, Osxy, Thanatos_NL and cruwdy moved to Flanders in the last minute to prepare our ATO there. So we had 9 candidates left although we already had 11 seats last month. In the end we got 7 seats this month and I congratulate those people that got elected.

But the day before the election we, the pp’s of the five major parties, had decided that the elections in the UNL weren’t important and that the ATO in Flanders deserved our full attention. We agreed that no tactical voting would be used and that the balance of power would not be decided by the congress election but reviewed and discussed afterwards.

However, I believe that we, all of us, were betrayed as some showed different intentions. Instead of focusing on Flanders they organized tactical voting in the UNL. I can only conclude that they apparently thought the cause in Flanders wasn’t important enough or that it was someone else’s fight to fight.

Here is an example of the tactical voting that was going on by others:

This morning (from 7-8 am) Auggy and I were online to support the Flanders operation and Auggy was keeping an eye on the election result in the West Region. That is the region he was running for congress and Flando as well. Flando had a nice lead of 2 votes and so Auggy voted on himself because it didn’t matter as both seemed to be placed anyway. At that time i voted for a LSD member because i didn’t need the vote either and neither did any other I&W member in my region. But 10 min. before the day change a certain candidate got all of a sudden 4 votes he went from 4 to 8 in 5 minutes time. This meant that Flando lost his seat and I&W went from 8 seats to 7.

So I&W got fewer seats then we normally would, but you know what? I am glad and proud that we did because at least I&W can say that they did everything in their power to help Flanders and we did not direct a single vote to the elections in the UNL or organize anything there including spreadsheets.

In total more than 30 I&W'ers moved to Flanders to vote which is 33% of our members. Today i got pm's from 4 other member that wanted to let me that they were going to vote but forgot about the time change in game and were therefore too late to vote (They didnt vote in the UNL either).

So thank you fellow I&W party members for all of your efforts. And of course thank you, all of those other ones who helped (PEACEkeepers and other nations) by voting in Flanders or running for congress there. We tried but at least it wasn’t our fault that we failed.
