The Federalist Press - Day 1763 - September 17, 2012

Hello Federalist Party!

This article is being brought to you by the Federalist Party Media Department. We'll be bringing you updates to keep you, the party, informed about what's going on.

Today's article is a update and reprint of an amazing article written by Kara Beth. The original article can be found here. Please vote and sub to her newspaper!

Federalists! If you've been wanting to help out, this is your opportunity. The time has come upon us to sign up for Blocking and Mobile Voting. Both will receive USD for travel expenses if requested. If you are not running for Congress, you are strongly encouraged to help out Blocking. Everyone can mobile vote. Mobile voting is important for a few reasons:

1) Gives the PD a better idea what votes are available to direct.
2) Helps save votes that otherwise would be wasted on badly losing candidates or winning candidates who do not need any more votes. This is why a Congress candidate should not vote for his/her self until/unless directed. Their vote may be more valuable elsewhere.
3) Allows for sniping opportunities just before reset.

Recently, I asked former Fed PP and my old friend, citizenslave, for an explanation to why blocking is important. Citizenslave served as Fed PP from October 2009 - January 2010. I wanted to know how blocking is effective in regards to game mechanics. I think it is important for us all to be reminded of these things from time to time. Also, there are sure to be a number of newbs who have never had it explained to them by a Fed icon. So, in the words of citizenslave, I present to you his explanation:

"Blocking is crucial to protecting the integrity of Congressional elections. If only one candidate declares in a region for a top 5 party before the 24th, that candidate is guaranteed a spot on the ballot on the 25th. Often, a political party does not have enough candidates meeting the standards expected of eUS Congressmen for every region. When a candidate is not available for a particular region, a blocker/candidate is sent to ensure that a foreign or domestic PTO candidate, an inactive player, or an otherwise untrustworthy player does not become the official candidate of the party. By ensuring the presence of a reliable party member, Party Presidents are able to select their blockers and prevent unauthorized candidates from misusing the party's ballot access."

If a party has no blocker for a region, then anyone can swoop in and get the endorsement. If a blocker is available, then the PP has a choice who he will endorse. Sign up below.
