[FDP] - New beginnings

Day 689, 08:36 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Free Democratic Party HQ

The man of the hour

Glados lost and Woldy won, that much we know. Congratulations to Mr Woldy and the very best of luck to him.

But what we do not know is what to expect from our Minister of Home Affairs in his ambitious climb to the top of the table. Relatively quiet and submissive, he is an extremely pleasant and friendly man who has done well in his few months as a politician and minister. His domestic role has put him front and centre in view of the public making him a highly popular and well known figure. But there were and are grave concerns, not only about his lack of knowledge and experience of the wider political and military scene across the world, but also about his party, about the control that the TUP will have over his cabinet, over his premiership.

What we had

Over the past five months three prime ministers and their teams have given to the eUK a new outlook and perspective. The opportunities they provided for the UK were enormous. The current UK is unrecognisable to what it was six months ago and for that we have them entirely to thank. This election represents a change. A move from highly experienced politicians leading our nation to one that is lead by someone who has, up until now, remained untested. In short, it is a risk and much depends on the chosen cabinet.

The Politics

What else has changed? Well, I think it is now vastly clear that the TUP are the nation's kingmakers. Where once the UKRP held nigh unassailable domination over presidential elections, the TUP have now mounted that ranking ladder and taken the spot at the top. Essentially, they have themselves become the very beast they once fought against.

But what does this mean for the FDP? As a party holding some of the most experienced and dedicated citizens of the UK, we are not keen on standing back to wait until another election. We are eager and driven to offer the alternative to the sitting government. We have pulled together a team of motivated and strong minded individuals who have considerable experience to take up the role of the Shadow Cabinet.

And so...

A true opposition has never really had precedent in the eUK and we believe it is high time one existed. On a daily basis our government must make critical and far reaching decisions and the Shadow Cabinet will be there to provide its opinions, knowledge and expertise concerning those decisions. We refuse to be silent this month, too much is at stake and too much work put in to let go what we have all already achieved together. Not only that, but providing a constant constructive criticism will only enrich the democratic process, as voters will finally be given an alternative to the current governing regime beyond what has amounted to a popularity contest in the past. The FDP is committed to bringing you efficient, effective, and energetic government, even if it means we are not that government. The public has voted and their government must live up to their expectations or be held accountable.

In the coming month you will hear from all Shadow Ministers on a regular basis and it will be for the public to judge and ultimately decide in the next election on their performance.

That being said, we are well aware of our priorities as citizens, congressmen, lords and members of the armed forces. The country comes first and not party politics. But it is with that in mind that the shadow cabinet will function, not only as a critique of the performance of their counterparts whoever they may be, they will applaud and agree when they can. But they will be equally vocal when they have an opposing view and opinion of things that were done or opportunities that were missed. In the same way the cabinet must do all it does for the greater good of the UK, so the shadow cabinet must also do.

This is a time for strong leaders in every seat around the table and the FDP will fill them both now and when elected, but today we are the loyal opposition.

The Shadow Cabinet:

Shadow Minister of Defence and Foreign Affairs

Many thanks 🙂
