Ian John Locke IV
Ok so most of you know me as a serious guy in-game. To be honest, though, I love having fun. I do most of my joking on the IRC. But as I was joking with Nathan_Woods and tdwester in #aap_party, I figured, why keep the joke between three friends, so here's the joke...
Tonight I was just bored and doing some random thinking. I looked at the AAP Party Page and for the first time actually took a second to think about our Far-Left economical orientation and our socially Libertarian view point.
As described by my friend and co-worker in the DoE, Ashmot, a Far-Left economical point of view is described as such:
more economic interventionism; workers' self-management; Equality of outcome; progressivism; secular government; law dictates culture; human nature and society are mostly malleable.
While the social Libertarian's point of view is:
Libertarianism is a term used by a spectrum of political philosophies which seek to promote individual liberty and seek to minimize or even abolish the state.
Now if you take these two definitions loosely, you would see that clearly they clash. How could a person believe that a shrunken government should or could intervene actively in the economy?
So now I'm confused as to why I ran for Party President of a group of people who can't decide how they want their government. I'm even confused as to why I'm even here because clearly I'm as befuddled as everyone else!
Disclaimer
To all you serious people out there, this was meant as a joke.
I love the AAP, the USA, and all of the members of both, yes even WilliamC.

LoL
Yay, someone mentions my name, I feel important.😛
"I love the AAP, the USA, and all of the members of both, yes even WilliamC."
William Shatner?
Voted to knock off that open letter.
Not William Shatner, the guy who commented above you Khazar93.
"Socially libertarian" is awkward diction. It is a necessary point of libertarian philosophy that you encourage both social and economic freedom, whereas liberals are mainly for social freedom, and conservatives are mainly for economic freedom.
As for the joke, I guess you had to be there. Voted.
I always wanted to know why the AAP is a far left Libertarian, and in fact every top 5 party is Libertarian.
lol
Voted!!!
I agree the political choices for parties is well, messed up.

So just take the Libertarian part out of the party description. You can do that, can't you? It's rather moot to be Libertarian when every top 5 party has it in their description. Besides, in my view, Libertarian philosophy has always been irresponsible.
This is like the spam article eh? by the way Ian, it's Ashot not Ashmot 🙂poor poor memory!
Ian I say change the party to far right anarchism, people will still stay in there because 90% of them think anarchism is something like patriotism!
(this is meant to be a counter joke)
Yeah there really isn't a liberal social attitude availible to select. It's kinda messed up. If you like to laugh Ian then you should read this: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/solving-america-s-problems-724908/1/20
Well, there you have to look at it politically. There are two political scales: the x axis: economic and the y axis: social. Economically, theres left and right, left meaning more government control on economy, right meaning less. On the social scale, there is authoritarian (more government control SOCIALLY; i.e: education, culture), while there is the opposite: Libertairan, which focuses on the individual and less government. Just pointing it out 😃
basically, you have to look at it as someone with no formal education on political theory or game theory and voila libertarianism
