I speak for all members of the house, past and present, when offering an apology for the mistreatment of Dean22. We apologize for the profound grief, suffering and loss, inflicted by past parliament. We apologize for the violation of constitutional rights. For the indignity and slander and besmirchment of a proud Canadian.
We the Parliament of Canada respectfully request that this apology be accepted.
We take a step today by acknowledging the past and by embracing a new future. A future where Parliament resolves that the injustices of the past must never happen again.

This is silly.
This apology has been issued as a result of the ruling by the Supreme Court of eCanada in the case of Dean22 vs. Augustus Baldwin.
To simplify the issue: Congress passed a bill to revoke Dean22's citizenship in Feb. '09. We ruled it was unconstitutional and negligent, so an official apology and revocation of the bill was ordered.

For the most part, I agree with Bruck. Apologies are more of a formality when not issued by the people responsible for the offense.
It would have been best if the govt. and those involved in the vote had recognized the mistake sooner and taken the steps to fix the oversight while it was more relevant than it is now 7 months later. However, it is really up to Dean22 to decide whether to bless the apology and absolve all sins before we begin discussing the beatification of AB.
Plugson you realize 'beatification' is a good thing and does not mean you get to 'beat me mercilessly' right?
Courts order a public apology when a person's reputation has been degraded unjustly. They do it all the time, and for good reason.
If you think the Supreme Court should purchase a sincerity detector, then by all means; however, I think that might require more bureaucratic crap to produce than a simple article 🙂
