The timing of this resistance war in WA probably couldn't come at a worst time than just as we are set to sit down for a new negotiations regarding Aussie Independence. Or is this timing actually beneficial?
All recent resistance wars have been started by foreigners (Yanks, Romanians and the what haveyous). All have been officially (and unofficially) denounced and advocated fighting against the resistance. Indonesian officials see this and this is good for our diplomatic approach.
I believe that foreigners starting self interested resistance wars may actually be playing into our diplomatic hands. It shows Indonesia that we are indeed trust worthy. These RWs will continue to pop up if Australian States are not handed back. It is in the strategic interests of powers at war with Indo to divide their forces and RWs are an effective way of dividing a force. The best way for the Indos to stop this is to hand back what is rightfully ours.
I hate the fact that our great southland is occupied by a foreign power. I understand the element within our nation that wants our land back now & we should fight for it. If we had the resource I would be a staunch advocate of more direct action in the return of Australian territory. But lets be pragmatic here, diplomacy is our only viable option. A full blown war with Indonesia would be a disaster for this nation.

That's not a bad point. If we show that we have no intention of working against Indonesia, but foreigners keep using our occupied territories as a weak point through which they can strike at Indonesia, then Indonesia has an incentive to give them back to us.

Nice article, but a short sighted view and guilty of being too introspective. Our enemy's enemy is our friend. Your diplomacy seeks to apease eIndonesia ('please sir, can we have some more?') and your long term vision? Fingers crossed, chin up and we may get it all back... may.
Diplomacy needs to be directed toward nations that will want to help us and if it works in their interests too, everyone wins (except the eIndonesians). If eIndonesia need to fight 5 battles at once, they have one fifth the power. Simple as that. Coordinated response, state by state with adjunct power from overseas.
eAustralia fell, eNSW and eVictoria remained and what did our nations first states do?
They begged.
Now why doesn't that surprise me...

@ HBB: M8 I understand your point. Seriously the Indos will just take back what ever they want after a reclamation war unless major & permanent security deals are made. Which is difficult to pull off. Less face facts. The next most powerful nation lacks the power to topple the Indos. eAussies couldn't beat the Indos with the combined ATLANTIS might Y would now be any better. If there was a coordinated world wide effort against the Indos to free Oz there would be a slim chance of success which would be undone in a new conflict which would be inevitable.
Like I said I would do all in my power for direct action if there was a real possibility of success... anyone would but this is about pragmatism. In real terms V Indo Oz is a non entity. All any nation can truthfully offer is token support. Diplomacy is our best option for Oz if we truly wish to remain a sovereign nation.

@HBB: Vic and NSW did not exist after the war. eAustralia did not exist for some time. An ATLANTIS backed push was crushed, not by PEACE, but by eIndonesia alone. Eventually after a number of RWs eIndo decided that continual fighting in Aus was just asking for trouble and started to give us back our regions.
We didn't beg. We forced them to give us our regions back, and this treaty is us still reaping the rewards.

It won't be in eAustralia's interest to continue to be so puppetlike towards eIndonesia. By continuing to be so aggressive towards anybody who wishes to help us, eAustralia is rapidly losing whatever support it may have in the eRupublik community. Once that occurs, nobody in the eRupublik world (on either side) will have any interest in seeing a independent eAustralia in eRepublik & few will blink a eyelid at eAustralia being removed from the eRepublik map.
Plus eIndonesia's president is massively anti-west. Last time I checked, we're part of the west & we can't change that fact.

AW is correct in one sentance: Australia is rapidly losing whatever support it may have in the ERepublik community.
Do not be aggressive towards the Romanians, no matter their true intentions for starting the RW in WA.

Exactly my point in a previous comment.. The RW started by eRomania was indeed in Romanian interest (no one denies that), but it will help you in your negotiations with Indonesia. We completely understand your situation and we respect it. For the time being eAus doesn't stand a chance in fighting eIndo directly and any counter-offensive by eIndo would be disastrous for you.
But still, at least now you'll be closer to a conclusion: either eIndo will give all your teritories back and you'll be future allies (which it would be, I have to agree, the best option for you), or you'll need to join Atlantis and fight them through.
Either way, eRomania didn't act a second against Australian interest.
