In this tiny guide I have compared different producing buildings against each other to show which ones are the most effective to invest in.

The data shows that when it comes to Raw material, its best to build Cattle farm or Saltpeter mine. For finished products, its most efficient to build Q4 buildings as a short term plan (12 to 14 months of play).
This guide is based on the Swedish economy index from 24th of November 2011.
Notes:
- Buildings that cost gold are converted to sek
- 1 gold = 1175 sek
- 60% production bonus added
- Salaries: 185 sek
- Upgrades costs half the gold price
- Building investment includes 1000 sek for the land

How'd you get different "Investment pay in..." values for grain/iron and fruit/oil?
En fråga, gällande Q2 vapen,
Kan sälja för 15.5 SEK, 3.1 SEK skatt
16*12.4 = 198.4 SEK profit
I still recommend grain/iron companies to new players. Why? Because you need 1500 SEK to get one, and 8500 SEK to start a sulphur/cattle building.
This means you'll start producing in the new company 5-6 times faster if you do grain/iron companies. Until you are nearing having enough companies to cover the amount of times you want to work per day, they're the fastest way to make money. As long as you work in the company more than 2 weeks before you destroy it, you'll have made back the money.

Jag tror han räknat bort kostnaden för råmaterial, varför vinsten blir lägre.
Det kan ju vara noterbart att 1st Q4/Q5 vapen/mat behöver storage. Mat behöver mer storage än vapen.
Du måste nog lägga på 15 000 sek till storage
Ska man göra detta helt korrekt så får man räkna bort den mat det kostar att återfå de 10hp man tappar när man jobbar, dvs 3,3 sek. Gör ingen större skillnad när man har hög nivå på fabrikerna, men med de små fabrikerna så blir det en rejäl del av vinsten som äts upp. Med grain/iron så tar det då 99 dagar innan investeringen lönat sig, med cattle/saltpeter tar då 96 dagar.

@Lejman, you do get enough of gold and cash the first couple of days to buy your first sulfur. In my opinion there is no need to hold onto the gold. Sell it. Invest it.

- its different cuz I calculated in the +1000 sek for the land into the cost.
Saltpetre is the best.
However on the finished goods companies you need to take into account that all sane people wait for the 50% upgrade offer to buy companies, which reduces the cost by half (obviously) making the return quicker.
@Iain, the statistics is with the reduced price on the upgrades 🙂
Well in that case you don't take into account the nature of upgrades. For example, the profitability of a Q5 is the difference in income between the existing company you presumably own (Q4) and the company you want (Q5). So the returns value is the cost of the upgrade divided by the increase in profit, not the total profit.
