25th Congressional Elections Results and Analysis

Day 773, 13:08 Published in USA USA by Rheinlander von Phalz
1 January 2010, Day 773 of the New World. Most months see some type of disruption to the Congressional elections on a national scale. These include political takeovers abroad and military engagements. This month, a considerable influencing factor was that election day was also the day in which a large number of people celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There were also engagements in Asia during the nomination period and even on election day. No significant anti-political takeover effort using American citizens occurred this month.

Last month, a Congressional seat existed for all 51 original regions of the United States. This month, 50 of 51 core regions were represented; Delaware is part of Canada. Additionally, the United States was in control of ten regions originally belonging to China and one belonging to North Korea at some time during the campaign season. Seven regions originally belonging to China were part of the United States long enough to be represented in the 25th Congress, bringing the total number of seats to fifty-seven.

Tibet was lost in a resistance war and later reclaimed in a land-swap. This resulted in the region not having representation in this Congress; Evry (CvP) was expected to win. Jilin was conquered by Hungary following a failed attack to land-swap and conquer North Korea quicker; Blazix (Dem) was expected to win in that region. Liaoning was retreated to China to prevent it from falling into Hungarian hands on 24 December; that region was going to be a contest between SweetBags (USWP) and Will Walton (Lib). Pyongan was expected to be won within hours of the deadline to declare Congressional candidacy, but due to a glitch involving a war declaration never finalizing, it was conquered by the United States after the deadline.

The general assembly sees Congressmen coming from nine different parties and one independent. The Democratic Party, Sons of Patton Party, and Nationalist Party are not represented this month. The Green Party returned to Congress, and the Bull Moose Party earned their first seat. America’s Advancement Party won twenty-one seats, United States Workers Party ten, the Libertarian Party nine, and the Federalist Party seven. The United Independents Party won three seats, and the Conservative Party (later renamed Democratic Republicans) and Socialist Freedom Party brought in two each. One seat was won by the Green Party, the Bull Moose Party, and an independent.

Only three incumbents who sought reelection did not win their races. A fair number of incumbents decided not to run for reelection, so there are still plenty of new faces in the halls of Congress this term. Chinese regions, having no incumbents in the United States Congress, see many newcomers representing them. Six returning incumbents are serving in different regions than they did last term.

Nineteen of the fifty-seven representatives are serving their first term. Five of the seven representatives from Chinese regions are in their first term.

Vote Inflation

Since the reclamation of the United States from its one-region nationhood in Florida, contested races in regions that have come to be known as the “Wasteland” have seen larger and larger vote totals. The election in September happened while California was being built up as the second American fortress, so the second-highest vote counts were there and have continued to be ever since. These were the highest-voted candidates in the Wasteland in September (winners in bold):

State-by-State Analysis

Alabama – After two months of difficult races and one month barely overcoming a blocker, Speaker of the House Serendipitous finally got an uncontested election.

Serendipitous – AAP – 0

Alaska – Last month Alaska had a candidate on every ticket. This month Alaska was a simple one-on-one between AAP incumbent Johnson and USWP freshman challenger Gabriel.

Maxx Johnson – AAP – 7
John Gabriel – USWP – 3

Arizona – Emmanuel Cruise, the incumbent from Utah who won on the Libertarian ticket last month, took Arizona unopposed.

Emmanuel Cruise – AAP – 2

Arkansas – Killing Time took his eleventh term, the most terms of anyone in the 25th Congress. Kyle Galli remains winless after his fourth attempt to get into Congress.

Killing Time – USWP – 17
Kyle Galli – APP – 11
Douglas Highwatch – Fed (Ind) – 3

California – This was one of three regions in which a blocker defeated a sanctioned candidate. Woxan was run as a blocker, not a real candidate for Congress, but decided to serve anyway. Reactions towards this race have ranged from declaring it a scandal to laughter. Viktoria Svensen was a serious contender with a platform while Woxan linked “Meet the Spy.” People looking for a catchy name for Woxan’s victory as a blocker have flocked to “Blockergate,” but I prefer “How the Spy Stole Christmas.”

Woxan – AAP – 427
Kyle321n – Fed – 300
Viktoria Svensen – USWP – 189
Alister – Lib – 100
dmjohnston – CvP – 80

Chongquig – GoBucks is one of the longest-serving Congressmen in United States history. He was originally slated to run in Pyongan, but that region was conquered too late for anyone to declare candidacy. His bid for Chongquig was not supported by USWP, and therefore he was deemed independent. Iasov, a Lib leader, secured his first term in Congress.

Iasov – Lib – 5
GoBucks – USWP (Ind) – 2
acjcrr – AAP (Ind) –1

Colorado – AAP incumbent Daniel Dodge returned to Colorado and overcame a blocker, his first time with no sanctioned opponent.

Daniel Dodge – AAP – 3
Alejandro Andres Segovia – USWP (AAP) – 0

Connecticut – After an extremely close race last month decided by experience points, Connecticut was incredibly quiet this month. SFP incumbent rainy sunday earned her second term unopposed.

rainy sunday – USWP (SFP) – 0

District of Columbia – For the first time in his career, which now encompasses five Congressional terms, Dodgercatcher won back-to-back terms. He moved from representing Kentucky to District of Columbia (DC for DC) while ligtreb, last month’s District of Columbia representative, moved to New York.

Dodgercatcher – USWP – 2
CrayolaButthole – AAP (Ind) – 0

Jonathon Richardson – AAP – 10
Cerce Tentones – USWP – 1
Mattoze5 – CvP – 0

Jiangsu – The independent tag often means “unsanctioned two-clicker,” and the parties do a reasonably good job making sure those people do not get elected. CenCom is an exception, being a politically-unaffiliated candidate sanctioned by the Federalist Party.

CenCom – Fed (Ind) – 6
TroyTrojansCoach – AAP (Ind) – 1

Jiangxi – UIP incumbent from Delaware Robert Loggia could not run in Delaware again, as the region now belongs to Canada (and both its seats were won by the Canadian Progressive Front). Tyler Buublar – AAP – 9
Henry Arundel – CvP – 3

Maine – Maine was one of three regions that saw a blocker win the election. Stevenson is the youngest member of Congress but is willing to serve.
