This Christmas, Baby Jesus had to share attention with eUNL congress elections. Citizens from all over the country were excited to click more buttons than on a regular day. The result? They have decided to give a firm vote of confidence to our current coalition. Although the results do not show major changes, could another round of opposition deepen the crisis within LSD and BP?
Coalition grows from 21 to 22 seats
Champagne is currently flowing in the I&W party chambers. Their coalition grows, with the extra seat for the party itself brings new talent to congress next to the experienced players we've all known for so long. BP's policy to focus on Belgian citizens only has clearly not worked for them these elections. The party loses one seat and should really consider whether perhaps they should focus on all citizens in the future. LSD has managed to overcome their internal crisis from the Cocoamok ban and stays at 8. GLD and LP remain at respectively 5 and 2 seats, which means the coalition grows by 1. It is of course unclear whether I&W will continue the current government. The Inquirer believes it would be the easiest and quickest way to continue. But does PP ChristiaanB94 agree, or will he invite BP or LSD back to the table?
While that story develops, the Inquirer is happy to have learned that press director Capzilla won a seat in Southern Netherlands in his first run for congress and will welcome him back in Rotterdam for another party shortly. Congratulations to all elected members of congress. Now is the time for dialogue, action and deeds.

As RL Dutch, I can say we do not focus on Belgian citizens only. Yes, it is a big point that we try to safeguard the fragile position of Belgians in our beloved eUNL union, as game mechanics work against them.
However, it's not a policy. It our vision. It's what we stand for, and what we will continue to stand for.
Therefore, it is not possible that it "doesn't work". There is no working/not working when speaking about visions and ideals.
Current elections might have lead to one seats loss, but we will not change our vision for that.

Game mechanics don't make a difference between Belgians or Dutchmen. Within the union, we can all work, train, vote and fight the same. I'll edit though to state it didn't work for you in these elections, to avoid unnecessary bickery. 🙂
/me points at the flag and name of eNetherlands (which we call eUNL), and the total absence of eBelgium.
Agreed that it doesn't make a difference in playing mechanics between players, but a RL Dutch might feel more welcome instantly here, than a RL Belgian.
That said, we do and will continue to fully support the union, but we will try (for example) to give that extra needed welcome-feeling to new RL Belgian players so they will stay in eUNL together with the RL Dutch 🙂
Oh, I totally agree that it takes more effort to explain our union to Belgians, especially new players. What I dislike is that I don't know what else BP stands for. I've asked, but I'm still not able to tell anyone what its positions are on MPP's, the MM, taxes, to have or not have many state companies, alliances, minimum wages.. not knowing what common grounds we have (or do not) makes it harder to cooperate, or even like BP.
What I would like to see is that Citizens for Unity gets more active and gets an official advisory position within the Ministry of Home Affairs. Maybe for our government to ask admins every single month to officially create our union in-game, with seven orginal regions, until they finally do it. Perhaps we can talk about this in congress. 😉
When it doesn't make a difference in playing mechanics between players who are Belgian or Dutch, why would we not support a merge with UK? Than we would be in real wars, we would have borders with enemies, no more gold stress for MPP or monetary market.
A better economy, a better quality of the army, congress and government. So much to gain 🙂

But i am not convinced that the union with the UK is the answers to all our problems. The grass always looks greener on the other side.

I think you might have praised us a bit more, as we came from a very difficult position, and still managed to keep our number of seats (Idk, but it seems like we gained one? As Cocoamok was banned and all that...) 😃
There are not eDutch and there are no eBelgians in this union. We are all citizens of eUNL, so hopefully communication and relations can improve slowly.
