[PM]Week 2 - The War Rages On...

Citizens of the UK;
Yesterday evening Erepublik time, the battle for London began. There's been much news from Americans and EDEN members alike singing "London Bridge is falling down" (even if most don't know the right words), and telling us how "Josh Frost" is coming to London.
Our response, as a Nation, and an Alliance, overwhelmingly was that they cannot into London. I'm sure they'll blame bugs, servers, and other various problems on this battle, because we all know they never lose, but know that it is our determination as an Alliance and Nation as a whole that has built this wall.
Not only that, but we managed to overcome their last minute efforts in China, which Serbia is now the sole owner of Liaoning, the region that the US and EDEN so highly gloated over retrieving from our allies in Iran.
Serbia shall for here on out be known as Ironmen.
Let's be clear, there's only one reason anyone had a chance in China to begin with: When this invasion started, we all warned that invading a country with no resource or economic gain would cause EDEN problems. Now, they're going to be mad since they were proven to be incorrect of their assessment. The UK will not take "3 minutes" to invade and conquer. We've proven that for quite a while. It is a long process of eliminating a country completely.
Earlier this week, Poland and EDEN managed to overcome a furious defence of North of Brazil, a by-product of the invasion of Liaoning. Just after it's conquest a Resistance War started which not many gave a chance. Almost every country involved, including the Spanish, Croatian, Polish, and American armies spent themselves silly trying to defend it, yet we still came out victorious.
Just afterwards, we offered a white peace to all Nations invading the UK. This meant we got all our regions back, and all our wars would be closed. EDEN has chosen to decline the offer, after we told them that these tactics will only result in their losses.
Now that Serbia has their Iron, and China's chances of retrieving it are highly unlikely (after EDEN left it out to dry when they chose to invade Brazil rather than defend it), I'll ask this question again, and this time in the open.
How long are you willing to pursue a conquest which gains you nothing, when you are losing in the venues which actually carry value? Will you actually risk losing Karnataka, you're only colony that contains Iron, because you choose to be stubborn? Will you actually go broke before you realise that this is a war that will not gain you anything of value from your own standpoint?
You may not value the UK, however, we do. We value it as our home, and where we will live. We'll fight for it until we can no longer, whenever that may be, and we shall not submit until every UK region is back where it belongs.
Are you willing to do the same, with regions that do not hold that same value to you?

I wanted to see what the British spin was on the London invasion (such as it was) so I came prowling around the English politico's papers. I found you and I think you did an excellent job of presenting a focused argument on why EDEN should not continue the invasion.
Though I am but a grunt in the eAmerican Warmachine (a wink at the Iron Man reference above) I'll do my best to address these questions.

Karnataka is an eAmerican fortress state now and if things got really hairy we could make it impregnable—and those of former PEACE know what that looks like. I doubt very much that there will come a day that we must choose to continue the war against eUK or keep Karnataka, USA. At worst, our war will be stalled.
As for the zero value gains of conquering the eUK, you are seriously undervaluing the price of peace of mind; The cost of honor; The worth of destroying that which needs to be destroyed for no other reason than it is a miserable excuse for a sovereign power.
Do you remember what the eUK did to us? The subtle shift of alliances? The deceptive "war games"? The blithe occupation in the early days of WWIII? The eUK directly facilitated the near destruction of the eUSA and you are questioning our motives and resolve?
Your argument is that of a would-be assassin negotiating his life over the price of our high-priced bullets. The eUK is a dismal, low-grade resource target. Agreed. But there are more lofty aspirations for a country's soldiers than high resources regions. There is the grim resolution to ending what was begun long ago in a manner befitting honor and justice.
London has not burned this day or the last. But it must and it will.

I don't get it. For weeks, you were yelling "push the button! push the button!", apparently believing you and Rus/Hung/Serbia would immediately push us back into the sea. Not a single Welsh sheep would be harmed in the American folly.
Now, with the UK reduced to two regions, and Ireland united, you are suing for peace, basically, saying, "hey, just leave us alone, and we'll close the wars and pretend this never happened".

Admittedly, I was not born when things prior to WWIII occurred. (I was born two days before eFrance began attacking eCananda.) I have to rely on what is said and discussed within the greater eRep community and the local political debates for my information. Here, the writing of history is a communal effort, ala eWiki. This is what I have to go on as facts:

This is the same reason we are attacking but with the national names in reverse. The eUK was deceitful, facilitated land-swapping with eHungary into Canada, and held occupations. This is aggression without any public discussion on our side of the water. To the eAmerican view one day the eUK was going to join FORTIS, the next they are occupying eCanada without provocation. That is a betrayal by any standard you care to measure it.

An individual's choice buries a man. A nation's choice destroys a nation. The choice has been made and the only arbiter of a choice's worth is whether they can prosper and survive by it. EDEN intends to prove to the eUK that it was a wrong choice. That it was a hurtful, nation-crippling choice for its maker. There is no way to prove this but by shattering the hope and aspirations of the eUnited Kingdom so utterly that the truth is even apparent to the unbeliever.
Thanks for the thoughts Exalted, and nice to hear your perspective. However, the eUK was never any threat to eUSA, and at such time, were helping it's allies end eUSA imperialism. I didn't agree with the invasion, but there it is...
I also think events will show that the eUK's decision to leave the eMerican sphere of influence will prove the right decision.

I'm confused by this. I loosely define Imperialism as 'A policy of extending political authority over foreign territories for the purpose of economically subjugating the inhabitance.' (my own definition) In essence, one nation being greedy for another's resources and taking them.
In this very article the eUK President has stated emphatically that there is nothing of value in the eUK to justify EDEN's aggression. She has expressed her bewilderment at why a multi-national alliance would forgo eRepublik's game mechanic-based motivation for rewards with no intrinsic value.
There is none. So it must, by simple logic, be something different.
There are plenty of perfectly suited words to describe what EDEN is doing in the eUK but Imperialism isn't one of them. Buy a damned dictionary, Brits.
