[FT] Issue #3 | Making it happen: eRepublik Defense & Economy Network (EDEN)

As the Admin Team makes some changes to the economy module which you can read more about here, some of us ask ourselves what this will mean for the future of eRepublik, and thus, what will it mean for our country?

These new changes essentially transform the way we plan our strategy, because now regions are defined by each other, but by their own attributes alone. If beforehand a nation with no raw materials could produce as many weapons as a nation which was rich in resources, now you will find that this nation will be at a disadvantage.

The goal now of a nation is thus to gain access to all 10 resources, in order to boost production of what are the two main products in the game; weapons and food.

How will we go ahead and do this? Conquest of course comes to mind, but then again do not forget about an alliance named EDEN: eRepublik Defense & Economy Network. If this name didn't trigger the idea by now, I'll help you out. EDEN is an economic alliance as well as a military one. If the Admins have declared that no matter how many "food regions" you have, only one will give you a bonus, then this should give you the idea of where I'm going with this.

The idea is to share regions. Countries with more of one type could rent out the region in exchange for gold or for another region. This is where the EDEN alliance can finally work together for the betterment of all.

We all know that the workforce is limited, meaning our production is also limited. But we can expand this limit by working together to give each other boosters and effectively bring down the prices of all goods in our alliance.

Below is some information about each country in EDEN and how many of each resource region they posses. The United States was also included due to it's close alliance with EDEN and it's already existing contracts with other EDEN nations like Poland to rent out some regions.

Only original territories were counted, even if they are under foreign occupation. Conquered lands are not included here.

As you may already be able to tell, since there are a total of 15 countries, there will be a deficit of 4 resources. This means that a few nations, even through trading, will not be able to hold all 10 regions.

Either way, what would help EDEN is if the nations with the highest populations would be given priority to hold all 10 regions, then their larger workforce would lower the prices of the goods more than if they were given to a lower population nation.

The goal of EDEN should thus be for the larger nations to help the smaller allies get access to all 10 regions so that all members in this alliance can prosper.

Other things to note is that Rubber, Oil and Saltpeter are the most valued resources in EDEN, especially Rubber, whom only Australia has access to.

It would be wise for Poland or USA if they can reach it easier, to grab hold of Australia's rubber region and in return pay a high rent to Australia. This would help bring down the price of rubber in the alliance as the larger Polish & US workforce can help maintain a better supply. The same should go for other resources in low supply. The nation trading them of course would get a more than generous gold payment in return to keep everyone happy.

Possibly, even trades between EDEN and Pheonix for regions MAY be possible if both see the mutual benefit for such a trade, however I find that very unlikely.

In conclusion, the Admins have probably taken into account the alliance system, and have realized that nations deprived of resources will trade with allies. It is also interested to see where the global wars take us as the value count of regions has shifted slightly all over the world. However South Asia is going to continue being in perpetual warfare for the rubber resources there.
