Senate Report.


Governme nt Subsidised Export Licences
Senator Aeros brought to the Senate the idea of Government Subsidised Export licences for high Iron Regions to help boost business. It was comprehensively rejected by the Senate but there was broad consensus that there should be an encouragement of our Allies to provide iron to eAustralia.


Other Countries’ Taxes
Senator Infin brought information that Rowan Quigley had compiled on the tax rates of those countries with top GDP's. Senators commented that the information was interesting and food for thought.


Import Tax Changes
Senator Infin proposed to change the Import Tax on Food, Gifts and Moving Tickets in line with Weapons to 5%. It is currently under voting.


Congress Exchange Bill
Senator CrowdedHouse, after the discussion on an exchange program last week, brought the Congress Exchange Bill to the Senate. The exchange program which will see the eNations of eAustralia and eSouth Africa accept one congressman (senator) from each other to participate in each nation's forum.

The propose is to form stronger ties between Australia and its allies, and to help share ideas for the improve of our individual nations and overall partnership. The Congressman Exchange Program will be on a One Month Trial for the May/June congress term. There were worries, especially from Senate Discrate1 who felt that it may lead to a compromise in Security. It is currently under voting.


Amendmen t to the Senate (Code of Conduct) Act (01/10)
Senator Kyle Thornton proposed an amendment to the Senate(Code of Conduct) Act (01/10) which was passed. The Amendment changed the vote needed to decide on a punishment if the Inspector General finds someone guilty from a 2/3rds Majority to a 50% + 1.


House VAT Change
House VAT was changed to 1% following a vote. An increase in Weapon Tax to 10% was narrowly rejected by the senate.
