Wait And See

Hi kids!
With the upcoming tournament I was looking at some MU stuff on the wiki.

Well Just Dandy
So now anyone from anywhere can join any MU that is not "strict" and win some extra candy and zookas. In the process the hosting MU gets cashola. How nice for them. The rich get richer and the old home town MU possibly looses members. Loyalty means nothing. Join the biggest gang and get what's coming to you.
My MU was the last little corner that admins couldn't fool with. We laughed, we talked, we had our fun. Now what? Scatter like fleas off a hound dawg gettin' a bath? I'm sure most of my mates will stick around (or at least come back later) but that's not what I'm worried about. Do we need to dispose of any sense of community to center on the game itself? Can they let us have a bit of fun just hanging out on eRep?
Yes, there are political parties. Yes, there are alliances. Yes, people still write and publish articles. Anyone of you who've been here long enough know that it is not what it used to be. I will not bore you with a list of things that have been taken from the game, it is substantial. The things that replace them are worthless or worse harmful to what I consider fun.
Wait And See
I suppose we will find out that eLife goes on. People here adapt or quit. Somewhere in between are 2-clickers. Some 2-clickers have had a brilliant career, some fade away and come back, fade away and come back...
Many will leave their MU to seek a prize with a powerful MU. Some may stay, some return, some may never have a home again. Everyone can play for himself alone, so we shall wait and see.
"No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were:
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee."
~John Donne

MU commanders should accept or reject an approvel for it.
like citizenship.
I have mine set to "invite only". Not that I expect a flood of new members, but I feel a person should have a reason to join a MU.
if there is a invite only section i think everything is ok.
cyprus is under occupation for long and finally i had chance to move in to cyprus MU.
thats good for small countries.
There are some benefits to this but in the long run it is there for people to take advantage. I would rather see the small countries receive some help from admin on PTO multies and some sort of RW damage bonus when regions are wiped. Something to make is expensive to keep someone wiped.
I didn't think of the RW damage bonus thing before. That's friggin genius.
another name change depici !?!?!?
I'm staying with my little group, SFP Bear Calvary. My loyalty is with them.
I'm still here, infrequently.
More changes that does nothing but deteriorate the game. Way to go admins...
There is at least one positive achievement if some are wise enough to make use. A country, like the US for example, could create an expeditionary force from their military. A bunch of heavy hitters that can take orders well. This group could move to an ally's military MU during an important battle to take advantage of a NE against the opponent for extra damage. This could work quickly before a MPP has a chance to pass Congress or in one of those dicey situations where a MPP is not possible.
There are no doubt other positives I haven't thought of. It still remains that one big negative, that some will see this as an opportunity to hop about from MU to MU for personal gain with no regard for the MU.
Never fear... our swiss players are the loyal type.
I know I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill. I always consider the worst case scenario, and prepare for the destruction of life as we know it. 😃
Don't worry. I think your being optimistic about all of this. I personally am prepared to start dancing on the sidewalk in a banana outfit to get recruits. 😛
I know that would tempt me to join you 😃
I mostly agree with you. I think our MU will mostly stay untouched, because we seem to not be the type to wander far from the nest lol. But I guess overall the MU hopping will start to go crazy.
IMO right now we have alot of folks who hop from one nation to another. Even with the CS approval thing they still do it. I don't even dare to dream what would happen if the CS approval function would disappear. But that is what just happened to the MU section. I agree the rich get richer and the damage packed MU-s will be doing even more damage. While the little ones with only a few GoW-s will mostly lose even the ones they have. Hell we could go on forever, it happened to the political module aswell. The big parties were given all the influence and power and the little ones we're made to be no-power type little social clubs.
And then they wonder why so many people (esp. youngins) quit the game ASAP. And all they can derive of the problem is that its only because they cannot advance as quick? What a bunch of geniuses, lets wreck the communities and then wonder why nobody has any fun. Yes not making enough cc or gold has its part in quitting but I personally think that what they're doing to the social side of the game is making the game even more self-destructing. I mean at one moment when they ruined the economic module and after they ruined the political module, we sat and said to hell with it, I'm not going to quit I got enough cool friends and people here doing stuff together. MU's we're like the last untouched part of the game. Now they've basically all but come out and said that we want you guys to not stay put and go and try out every MU there is. This will evidently ruin social friendships and tear close people more away from eachother. Yes it will create new communities of MU hoppers, but firstly the damage is greater than the new communites gained. Secondly in the bigger picture of things, MU hopping will get really old really fast and make more people quit.
^JC writes his own article. 🙂
Article inside an article, inception or what? 😃
On the real tho, I've been contemplating to start writing articles instead of my comment/feed rants for a while now. Too lazy to do it tbh.
How are you too lazy? It's the same god damn thing you fool.
Nah bro, if I write an article I gotta do it right. Have pictures and stuff and more thought through thoughts with good alignment.
