[WRP] - A view from Parliament - Issue 6
Huey George
Preamble
In this latest “A view from Parliament” article. I will update you, my constituents on two law proposals. At the end I’ll share a few of my own thoughts on a few topics that are currently making the rounds in Parliament, the media and general citizen discussions. These are lowering taxes, our Mutual Protection Pacts (MPPs) and partisan politics in government.
Law proposals
The two completed law proposals are;
Belgium has been proposed as Natural Enemy.
As planned I voted NO. This was because this is the arrangement our Country President has come up with the Belgian Country President and the general consensus of my constituents.
Ultimately, the Belgian congress voted YES to the UK as a Natural Enemy and we are enjoying a training war with them. Our own Natural Enemy position remains un-occupied is in reserve in-case the UK is threaten with a real war from an opportunist neighbour and the UK currently is not missing the bonus of 10% more damage in the training war. I hope to see a long standing continuation of training wars as it’ll make the UK stronger in the long term I feel to help not only ourselves but our allies.
The voted ended;
7 YES votes and 28 NO votes in the UK
And Belgium’s initial law proposal
19 YES votes and 1 NO vote in Belgium
The second was;
President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with Indonesia.
I voted YES, This was because I believed Indonesia is a powerful ally for the UK to hold on to. Our existing MPP with Indonesia has allowed our citizens opportunities at times to fight in their wars to gain experience whilst supporting allies and improving our new world reputation
The voted ended;
32 YES votes and 3 NO votes in the UK
23 YES votes and 0 NO votes in Indonesia
Although as always I welcome the view of my constituents. Please feel free to comment or personal message me.
Lower Taxes and MPPs
Through my fellow Congress Members, the media and directly from my constituents, I've considered to many compelling arguments “for” and “against” a decrease in VAT and Income Tax. The cost of MPPs are also important when considering tax.
While no proposal has been made yet as the congressional debate requires some more time. I find myself as your member of congress leaning towards voting for a reduction in VAT and Income Tax. For the reasons outlined below;
- While the benefit for the average UK citizen is minimal in the short term, in the medium to long term this small benefit will add up, giving our citizenship more financial freedom.
- The Government requires most of the income from taxes for MPPs and government giveaways. While MPPs are important some may not be value for money and we could support these allies with informal agreements, a smaller budget would also make sure any government is not wasteful with our money. Government giveaways are a good idea in principle however not fair as everybody can not benefit. Also government giveaways have lost their impact in the current political climate coupled by supplies offered by private military units. In short the general citizenship of the UK have plenty of choices and lower taxes would only add to this I feel.
- In the end I feel the UK will be stronger with a more independent citizenship, less reliant on government handouts to make a real difference in society.
Partisan Politics
Another debate I have followed closely is how much should "party identity" should play in government departments. With-out thought, my “A view from Parliament” is written fairly partisan I've decided. In these series of articles I discuss congress law proposals and my work as a Minters of Foreign Affairs while advertising what I see as a brief summary of benefits of the Workers' Rights Party.
To settle my conscience on this I ask myself three questions...
If a new citizen was to approach me Huey George, citizen of the UK and ask me "What party shall I join Huey?" I'd answer "Choose the party which best suits your ideals and vision of a fair society, I'd recommend the Workers Rights Party however in the end only you can make the final decision"
If a new citizen was to approach me Huey George, Member of Congress(Parliament) and ask me "What party shall I join Huey?" I'd answer "Choose the party which best suits your ideals and vision of a fair society, I'd recommend the Workers Rights Party however in the end only you can make the final decision"
If a new citizen was to approach me Huey George, Minister of Foreign Affairs and ask me "What party shall I join Huey?" I'd answer "Choose the party which best suits your ideals and vision of a fair society, I'd recommend the Workers Rights Party however in the end only you can make the final decision"
Fundamentally, what I'm trying to say is the position you hold in government doesn't change the person you are and many of us are the citizens we are as a result of our parties and the friendships within.
Each citizen is also free to follow their own ideals. Ethics, power, money and supplies will always play a part in their decisions.
In the end of the day we are ministers appointed by an elected government official and we will have natural bias whether party related or not.
I feel its best to always be honest, if party plays a big part of your identity, I'd rather you don't hide it under a false guise of neutrality. If you are naturally neutral and open this also a very good trait to have in Government departments. The voting citizenship put trust in the Country President to form a government which fairly represents it and will ultimately decide whether or not the Country President has achieved this.
Closing thoughts
I pride myself on being honest, open and transparent. I have my own views however will strive to make sure I'm representing you as fairly as possible and you can freely judge me as your servant in Parliament.

First!!!
Great article as always o7
A really good read and the points you make are very true
"Fundamentally, what I'm trying to say is the position you hold in government doesn't change the person you are and many of us are the citizens as a result of our parties and the friendships within."
Keep up he good work if only everyone was like you Huey the country would be so better !
Good article,
Simple question: That is your opinion based on a person asking you which party should I join? Good answer by the way and one which I feel we can all relate to,
Would you mind if I ask your conscience one more thing?
Would Huey (MoFA, Congressman or "Normal") ever write a purely recruitment driven message and then deliberately place push that onto the new players, through both shouts on their MU feed and through buying votes to take it to number 1?
Note - I totally agree with what your saying - especially this:
"I'd rather you don't hide it under a false guise of neutrality."
But I feel the difference is that i've never seen or heard of your forcing your opinion on another (and your questions just go to prove that). If your asked about your party - or which one you think is best then, by all means, say your opinion.
If Asked.
unbelievable, somebody attacking Huey, good work, mate.
Thank you, ViciousDeeds, Don and Madacaion.
@ Madacaion, That is an interesting question. Honestly my military unit is fairly openly partisan although we have a few non-Workers' Rights Party members however saying that I tend to try only to "reason through articles" to increase WRP membership and don't often shout it to the Free British Irregular feed as we're a bunch of free minded soldiers.
Personally I'm against vote buying for articles, I'd like to see article in the Top 5 on merit.
Voted and Subbed! Your articles are great and the transparency you convey, to us outside the political realms, is much welcomed 🙂
My only criticism (and it is a personal point of view!) is that I'd like to see promotion of parties outside of politician's articles. Promote them by all means! Just not within articles related to your duties.
Keep it up! \o/
The person supposedly attacking him said 'good article'
Thanks Alphabethis, CptChazbeard and Minecrafting Instead.
@Alphabethis, also thanks for the defence however it's un-needed I'm happy to answer Madacaion questions as they seem perfectly fair to me.
@CptChazbeard, Thanks for your own personal point of view, I welcome it and will consider it in future articles as I'm your representative. It is an issue which we all have to question our consciences closely to find an answer and I need to be extra fair consider my government position.
Got to be honest and say you have always come over as genuine, sincere and very honest to me and even the people I have spoken to when we was talking about the CP election a month back when you stood. My major flaw is I reply to negativity with negativity and I always dip my head slightly in embarrassment whenever I read your articles because you are what this game should be about.
awesome once again. The only congress member truly earning his seat. I hope to see you once again in congress.
Could Huey be the new Emergy?
Real talk here Huey
awesome once again. The only congress member truly earning his seat. I hope to see you once again in congress. x2
My same feeling exactly. Voted. : )
Since i have been born in EREP a little over a year ago, i have had a great relationship with Huey. I work for him in his company and then decided through my own choice to join the WRP and then his MU. Never once has he forced any opinion of his on me.It is very rare for someone to come up with an alternative view on how to play this and then ask the Party members to vote. If the vote goes against we don't use it. It is the very 1st Party i have ever joined where the majority vote wins.
Thank you Dr Hugh, Wayne, Talon, alexg737 and lancer459. You all have my great respect.
Thanks also, myheadstone it's great to have you as a member and president of the WRP. Its another reason why I need to be open and honest about my views as it is a fundamental cornerstone of the WRP. I'm representing the party's image and core beliefs with the backing it's members as well as my constituents.
What are your views on the current levels of import tax? We might be able to increase that a bit to offset some of the tax cuts - it's at a very low 2% for raw materials at the moment.
@Danie - It is a good idea and something worth considering as it could very well offset some of the loss of tax revenue, a reduction in VAT and Income Tax would bring. Increasing import tax for raw materials may also help our own domestic producers and their workers.
