[PoA]Hope

Hello dear friends,

Due to people actively trolling, whining about random stuff and trying to change some things I got an idea to write an article and share my opinion on current situation in eRepublik. I bet most people won’t agree but hey, thank God for democracy. I see a lot of people trolling the only alliance still active in this game, Asteria. First of all alliances don’t exist anymore, and unofficial alliances are not trying to win, not trying to achieve something, they only want to disrupt Asteria as one last push in order to keep people active. Hands down to those people. Although there might be another reason. Maybe they are not competent enough to make another alliance that would keep the balance to the game like it was couple of years ago. The truth can be difficult to accept and in times harsh but the only truth here is that we are playing a ghost game, and its been dead for many years now. Life on support machines isn’t really life at all, but most people don’t want to accept that fact because that way they lose the only thing everyone cares about having in life. Hope. A hope for better days, even in a game. Well those days are long gone and believe me they aren’t coming back. We all feel sad about some things that are gone but one thing I learnt is the sooner you accept the facts the better.

Another fact is that we tried everything. We really did! We are prolonging the end by finding other things in order to have fun in this game. That works too, yes, for a while we feel good but that ain’t really the point right? Why is it like this? There must be some reasonable explanation. Maybe its because the game went to a path with no return. Its not logically sustainable in the long run, and thats a fact too. New players don’t want to join a game that started way back in 2007, when Misho and Han Solo earned their first Super Soldier medal and had 250 strength. So those new players had only one hope through time, they hoped that those old people would miss a training day and hopefully catch up to them in strength. But lets not lie to ourselves that wasn’t going to happen. So we had a gap for a long time, and that gap started getting bigger to a point where people didn’t make new accounts but searched to buy existing ones. It wasn’t allowed? Hey if you don’t get caught everything is legal. Admins found a solution for that too. They implemented divisions and for some time things were quite peaceful. There were some people that struck the goldmine, having only trained and worked for most of their time here and when divisions came they had 100k strength and only lvl 30. Hunting Battle Hero medals for them was a peace of cake. There were those who were less lucky with only 50k strength and lvl 70. They had to compete with the legends who were lvl 1000 and had 180k strength. Then they made a pack called Maverick Pack and everything went viral. Equalizer! Everyone was the same again! Most of them left the game. Those who stayed tried to have fun some other way, invest in companies or maybe interact with politics. New hope came when admins announced cities and Mayors, but we are still holding on for that dream.

Couple of years passed and more and more people were leaving the game because they couldn’t catch up to the bigger fish. So admins came to the rescue yet again. Those wonderful people implemented Aircraft module which should have came with another thingy like strength, called Perception. Soon after people argued and whined themselves out because eventually it would get to the same situation as strength. So they didn’t implement that, but left the air module and people now had another hope. Some people who were 2clicking for years now got a chance and they took it. They quickly raised their Aircraft rank and started hunting Sky Hero Medals, which were more profitable and the competition was lower. People wasted Energy Bars, golds and real Benjamins in order to buy more and more and increase in rank, and soon after that another gap emerged. Thats fair concerning that people are allowed to handle their money however they want, and poor people shouldn’t argue. The game was pay2win from the start so that didn’t change a lot of things. People still saw hope from deep down the well, and it was clearly the last thing people would stay here for. Friends. Oh all those days spent on chat (that was way back when people used IRC) with friends talking about all kinds of things besides eRepublik stuff. I bet most people would agree, that was the last things worth staying for.

People always find something to hold on tight, even when they know its over they don’t want to admit the loss. Hope dies last. I want to thank all those people who are making the game fun and giving her CPR all these years. Maybe this is an end of a once great game. Hey maybe we see some great changes in the future. Sorry for the long article and thanks for reading. Peace out.
