The New Outlook, The Japanese Military

Day 779, 21:46 Published in Japan Japan by Japanese Imperial Army
The Plan - January 2010

Greetings Japan. My name is Metic and I am honored to be the next Minister of Defense in charge of the fine military of Japan. Japan has shown that the military and the defense of our home islands to be of greatest concern. While we most certainly are nowhere near the world leaders, we have certainly came a long way.

The military today, I believe, has three major concerns: The overconcentration of homebound forces, the ability of soldiers to follow orders, and the inability to effectively produce from the current companies.

Current Forces
Effective today, the JIA(Home Guard) will no longer be expanding in size. Efforts will be instead focused upon the mobile and elite forces and will be expanded at a later time.

New standards will also be imposed on all new and current members of the military. In my short work as the JIN commander, the lack of response by select members is something that severly hampers our military's ability. The story passed around that our mobile forces are incompetent are really at its root, a myth. My first day on the job as JIN commander coincided directly with the big Liaoning battle and was one where over half of the Navy personnel were able to be adaquetly equipped to help in that battle.

However, the fact remains that a large part of our forces seem to be similar to a two-clicker level of activity and is something that is unacceptable in our force. We certainly do not have numbers so the solution here is to concentrate on a smaller, elite, and active group. Weapon distributions happen in order to help Japanese rank up and contribute greater to our defense. This is no use if they are unable to recieve AND to carry out orders.

The current roster of military personnel will be contacted in a little while for a complete re-evaluation. Results will be published at a later date.

The Military Companies
In the past few terms, the military has been able to expand itself and begin towards becoming more self-sufficient. A big leap was the creation of the Q5 weapons company. The only problem was that these companies only functioned at half-capacity. For a long time, this was achieved from select volunteers from within the military and today it has proven to be not sufficient.

Over the course of this month, the manufacturing workers of the military will be phased into our military companies starting with the Home Guard. While these salaries will not be matching top market prices, weapons distribution will be much more than cover this difference. As our current companies get filled, the proposal of a new Q3 weapon company for our intermediate soldiers may also be added.

Thank you,
Metic, Minister of Defense

tl;dr for those not in the military - higher standards, re-evaluation of current members, soldiers to work in companies
