The Skald 12/10/18
Violence Seth
Hi there, Sethesin here, editor of the Skald. I came back to this game for the community, the chatter. I've recently returned to my original homeland, eIreland, which I'm delighted to be a part of. I want to thank eNorge, my other homeland, for being very hospitable. I would love to see closer ties with eÉire and eNorge but present political-military zeitgeist will only allow MP's atm. Maybe in time we could drive the stern together but for now...
Well anyway, the eUK has bitten the dust with the great eGreek invasion. Now eIrish and eCroatia are picking the bones. I know for most rl Irish there is a great deal of schadenfreude looking at the British being wiped and for older players they have much to smirk at right now.
And I am smirking with you patriots, this is a fantastic development. Today's poet is Padraig Pearse.
It's not exactly a poem, more an oration. Pearse was a visionary revolutionary. The British hated this concept and shot him promptly after surrendering a failed coup which in turned flipped the entire nations opinion in his movements favour, far beyond even his vision.
Pearse, in my opinion is the greatest Republican Nationalist of the 20th century. His enemies, even one hundred years after, cannot find a fault in his character bar he wasn't greedy (he struggled with his finances) and spent a great deal of time educating the next generation about Ireland (unfounded claims of pedophilia).
His enemies will always lose. His actions in life stifles their petty gossiping. Pearse was what a lot of Irishmen and women today wish they could be whether they know it or not. He didn't mope around and complain. He worked hard and never hid from his destiny. Pearse, the unrepentant Fenian, right back to Fionn mac Cumhaill seen Ireland for the jewel she was and struck for her independence, clumsily perhaps, but struck all the same.
I present his grave side speech at Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa's funeral.
Patrick Pearse's Graveside Panegyric for O'Donovan Rossa
on 1 August 1915 at Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin
It has seemed right, before we turn away from this place in which we have laid the mortal remains of O'Donovan Rossa, that one among us should, in the name of all, speak the praise of that valiant man, and endeavour to formulate the thought and the hope that are in us as we stand around his grave. And if there is anything that makes it fitting that I, rather than some other, rather than one of the grey-haired men who were young with him and shared in his labour and in his suffering, should speak here, it is perhaps that I may be taken as speaking on behalf of a new generation that has been re-baptised in the Fenian faith, and that has accepted the responsibility of carrying out the Fenian programme. I propose to you then that, here by the grave of this unrepentant Fenian, we renew our baptismal vows; that, here by the grave of this unconquered and unconquerable man, we ask of God, each one for himself, such unshakable purpose, such high and gallant courage, such unbreakable strength of soul as belonged to O'Donovan Rossa.
Deliberately here we avow ourselves, as he avowed himself in the dock, Irishmen of one allegiance only. We of the Irish Volunteers, and you others who are associated with us in to-day's task and duty, are bound together and must stand together henceforth in brotherly union for the achievement of the freedom of Ireland. And we know only one definition of freedom: it is Tone's definition, it is Mitchel's definition, it is Rossa's definition. Let no man blaspheme the cause that the dead generations of Ireland served by giving it any other name and definition than their name and their definition.
We stand at Rossa's grave not in sadness but rather in exaltation of spirit that it has been given to us to come thus into so close a communion with that brave and splendid Gael. Splendid and holy causes are served by men who are themselves splendid and holy. O'Donovan Rossa was splendid in the proud manhood of him, splendid in the heroic grace of him, splendid in the Gaelic strength and clarity and truth of him. And all that splendour and pride and strength was compatible with a humility and a simplicity of devotion to Ireland, to all that was olden and beautiful and Gaelic in Ireland, the holiness and simplicity of patriotism of a Michael O'Clery or of an Eoghan O'Growney. The clear true eyes of this man almost alone in his day visioned Ireland as we of to-day would surely have her: not free merely, but Gaelic as well; not Gaelic merely, but free as well.
In a closer spiritual communion with him now than ever before or perhaps ever again, in a spiritual communion with those of his day, living and dead, who suffered with him in English prisons, in communion of spirit too with our own dear comrades who suffer in English prisons to-day, and speaking on their behalf as well as our own, we pledge to Ireland our love, and we pledge to English rule in Ireland our hate. This is a place of peace, sacred to the dead, where men should speak with all charity and with all restraint; but I hold it a Christian thing, as O'Donovan Rossa held it, to hate evil, to hate untruth, to hate oppression, and, hating them, to strive to overthrow them. Our foes are strong and wise and wary; but, strong and wise and wary as they are, they cannot undo the miracles of God who ripens in the hearts of young men the seeds sown by the young men of a former generation. And the seeds sown by the young men of '65 and '67 are coming to their miraculous ripening to-day. Rulers and Defenders of Realms had need to be wary if they would guard against such processes. Life springs from death; and from the graves of patriot men and women spring living nations. The Defenders of this Realm have worked well in secret and in the open. They think that they have pacified Ireland. They think that they have purchased half of us and intimidated the other half. They think that they have foreseen everything, think that they have provided against everything; but the fools, the fools, the fools! — they have left us our Fenian dead, and while Ireland holds these graves,
Ireland unfree shall never be at peace.

Where eÉire goes from here is in the hands of its citizens. Amnesties were never afforded by eUK players in the past without some degree of humiliation. They bullied us, mocked us, infiltrated our political system. It made rl insults bitterly personal. I spent a fortune trying to help but to no avail, though the I.A where always there, Always in the Fight as they say.
But we are not British. While we might be giddy at the idea of a conquered eUK and our tanks are taking provenances day by day. This eCitizen would only take Ulster, Wales and Scotland. Greece and Croatia can carve the rest until the Brits hold out their limp Olive Branch, which we should take, knowing the conditions they're under.
If their hubris prevents them than I must admit I feel sorry for them all the same.

Ok KT88 got the gold because he's new and it'll make a difference no matter how small for one of our fledgling citizens. Can I get 11 more comments to end this damn mission? It's not like I wrote a paragraph saying comment 25 times and I get something. I already gave the prize away. I need rid of this mission and the only medicine you ask? Your comments, 11 of them to be precise and I've my peace of mind back. Come on guys, we're nearly there! o7
Thank you very much, it does mean a lot. I'm 20% richer now!

Thanks for the support. At the moment, I was in the 50 countries remaining 24 hard to release new citizens, but I'm going to the end ... for now only one contestant has managed to collect all 74.

Here's what I know. I could not be standing here without that undying love that was just sung about by, not Bruce, but Neil Young. And I have that in a lover that is so close to fine, we should all be able to experience such heaven right here on earth. I know also that, I should not be doing this, I should not be here, but I am because of the union of such filmmakers as Ed Saxon, Ron Nyswaner, Kristi Zea, Tak Fujimoto, Jonathan Demme -- who seems to have these attached to his limbs for every actor that works with him of late. And a cast that includes Antonio Banderas, who, second to my lover, is the only person I would trade for. And a cast that includes many other people, but the actor who really put his film image at risk, and shone because of his integrity, Mr. Denzel Washington, who I really must share this with.
I would not be standing here if it weren't for two very important men in my life, so... two that I haven't spoken with in awhile, but I had the pleasure of just the other evening. Mr. Rawley Farnsworth, who was my high school drama teacher, who taught me to act well the part, there all the glory lies. And one of my classmates under Mr. Farnsworth, Mr. John Gilkerson. I mention their names because they are two of the finest gay Americans, two wonderful men that I had the good fortune to be associated with, to fall under their inspiration at such a young age. I wish my babies could have the same sort of teacher, the same sort of friends.
And there lies my dilemma here tonight. I know that my work in this case is magnified by the fact that the streets of heaven are too crowded with angels. We know their names. They number a thousand for each one of the red ribbons that we wear here tonight. They finally rest in the warm embrace of the gracious creator of us all. A healing embrace that cools their fevers, that clears their skin, and allows their eyes to see the simple, self-evident, common sense truth that is made manifest by the benevolent creator of us all and was written down on paper by wise men, tolerant men, in the city of Philadelphia two hundred years ago. God bless you all. God have mercy on us all. And God bless America.
I hope one day we free Northern Ireland and Scotland. Cheers - v
