[Kemal Ergenekon] Is the rent too [redacted] high? Some simple math...
Kemal Ergenekon
This article was taken down by the administration for vulgarity. I will republish it for posterity with some redaction.
Hey there,
Since eUSforums are so horrible at the moment, I cannot even post a single post despite trying several times. So why not make it an article? I will. The question of the day is: is the work tax worth it? The answer is yes. Here is why:
A Q5 WRM factory produces 250 WRM per WaM click with 0 bonuses. It produces 50 more with each weapons bonus.
50 WRM * 0.05 USD/WRM = 2.5 USD. In other words each weapons bonus gives you 2.5 USD extra revenue per WaM click.
How much work tax would cancel out the benefit of a SINGLE weapons bonus? Let's calculate:
Average Wage: 19.70
WT percentage a SINGLE weapons bonus is worth: 2.5 / (19.70 / 100) = 12.69!!
12.69!!
If 10% WT gets us just a SINGLE weapons bonus in addition to what we would have by NO TAXES, it would be WORTH IT! If all those MPPs, development programs, rental agreements, USAF funding and SCI spending get a SINGLE weapons bonus, then we [redacted] did it. It was money well spent.
Even from the point of view of a COMPLETELY SELFISH PERSON, it is better to live in a country with 4 weapons bonuses and 12% WT rather than a country with 3 weapons bonuses with ZERO% WT.
There are only two explanations here: Either the people who are against the WT do not know how to do math (perfectly understandable if sad), OR these people are not just selfish, but they actively HATE the government using the money. What do I mean by that? You would rather have 10 dollars rather than you having 14 dollars and giving 2 dollars to the government. That is not called selfish in decision theory; that means you have the preferences of a [redacted]. Other people doing well just bothers you. It is the opposite of altruistic preferences.
If you cannot understand the math, you can go to another country with lower bonuses and earn less while thinking you earn more... People did it in the past, and thought they were saving some cents, when they were losing actual dollars. But if they cannot do the simple math above, then what can anyone do?
And as for all the ludicrous claims that WT favors the rich and hurts the poor, they are completely wrong.
The WT benefits the poor because the government distributes it via USAF and development programs to give people tanks who cannot usually afford them. There might be exceptions, but those exceptions generally do not request tanks anyway.
The WT does not favor the rich: Only people with many companies pay a lot of WT (and as I said, despite this, they are still better off). Guess who they are? All the rich people like me, and also those renegades who stole government infrastructure. I buy no gold. I have 74 companies and HAPPY to pay the work tax. Because I KNOW it benefits me in the end. Not because I get anything from the government - I don't. It is because it makes eUS WIN ON THE BATTLEFIELD, AND GET THAT [REDACTED] EXTRA BONUS.
Thanks for (not) reading.
Best regards,
Kemal Ergenekon

I think the same coward is reporting my publications too.
Why use your brain when you can just get opposing views taken down? MURICA!
Well said. As usual. To be heavily ignored or refuted with anecdotal evidence. As usual.
Maybe it's because you're a [REDACTED] Elitist Turk. Dunno.
This article needs more votes
Whilst I agree with your math, it's false logic to assume that because a price is worth it, it is necessary.
Just because a 10% tax costs less than losing a bonus, it does not follow that reducing the tax below 10% will see bonuses lost. In fact a lot of other factors play into that- you could have 20% work tax and still lose high rubber to a concerted campaign from Asteria. You could have 1% and not lose the Canadian regions just by directing 2 clicker damage (under normal circumstances).
I think the main problem with the tax reductionists on the eUSA forum is they don't attack the budget, they attack the tax line. They're saying "reduce taxes" without specifying how spending could be reduced. I can't really comment on it, since I haven't seen a US budget lately, but I did hear that the eUSA has 10m cc in their bank, which is a good sized war chest by any measure.
But Iain, numbers say so!
Ha! That's true. Numbers don't lie. Liars do.
Iain with probably the most intelligent response I've read during this entire debate. Don't attack the tax.... attack the expenditures.
Raise the minimum wage to be in line with the market (around $30 at the moment) so that the communes are paying the work tax also, then this conversation would be worthwhile. Otherwise it's a joke and anyone trying to engage in production without running a commune is getting screwed.
Yes, I have been told by government officials that instead of fighting the work tax I should indeed take my companies to another country. It seems that communes are intentionally being chased out. Cause in a commune, even that 1cc difference really adds up and is indeed important "profit" to self-supply fighters.
screw that. Keep your commune here Cubby. If they want you to move, stick around just to annoy them. That's what I've been doing forever now 😛
I'm ready to turn my annoyance level to 11. Been sidelining the madness for too long.
I still disagree with your statement that I either can't do math or am selfish, but I am truly glad that this article is back up, it never should have been taken down. Freedom of speech is a beautiful thing, and people that you disagree with should be the ones that you fight the hardest for in that regard. I like you Kemal, even though we disagree. Hopefully people in this nation will learn that not agreeing on everything doesn't make someone a bad person. It would lead to much more intelligent and helpful discourse.
Now that the rant is out of the way 😛:
I'm curious to know if going from a 10% to an 8% tax would decrease the number of American citizens that hit the fight button?
Would it lead to less supplies for people? Because those are the only two ways I could see lowering a work tax to 2% to be harmful to our ability to hold bonuses. It wouldn't lead to less supplies, because 8% covers all expenses as budgeted and leaves money for SCI spending. And it certainly wouldn't decrease the number of people willing to hit the fight button.
Agree with your first paragraph, JLo.
Regarding your question, it is now being stated that work tax = region bonuses. So we are no longer talking about expenses, but instead an assumption that more money equals winning. Granted, more money can almost always buy a win, but if we look around the eWorld it is certainly not clear that work tax = region bonuses. Secondly, since expenses are relative to the budget presented, simply raising our expenses then necessitates raising the work tax. It comes down to the assumed value of said expenses. And the USAF, while high on the budget percentage, may not be the worst culprit. Instead the SCI spending sometimes is—as shown in Gnilraps' article on how he was proud of blowing 3 million on Canada in his term.
Looking forward to further discussion and hearing the next level of spin from the administration. 🙂
They call me the spin master....it's my DJ name lol.
Yeah, three million was absurd. He made Oblige like more like a dolphin than a whale lol
I do not think cutting the taxes by 2 percentage points will stop the SCI spending. If the executive continues with the same spending level, our reserves will go under the 10m line, and the congress will have to raise taxes back to a higher level, perhaps above 10%.
The calculations show that even if the government spending affords us a single weapons bonus, we are getting a return on our investment. Since battles are won by exceeding the enemy by a little, the difference of the return we get on 8% vs 10% might be 0 bonus vs 1 bonus.
So what I claim is that 8% will not give us 80% of the success we have with 10% taxes but less, since it is all about coming a little bit higher than the enemy. The curse of the winner takes all eRep battles.
You guys really need to raise your work tax or else you're going to continue to lose bonuses.
You're so cute.
I'm going to go to KFC today in honor of you.
How does it feel losing bonuses to a nation 1/6th your size?
I know, it's terrible. Me and some Congressmen were talking about it today.
You know what a Congress is don't you? 😉
BIG WINKY FACE AT J LO'S COMMENT 😉
You guys act like Congress does anything. I'm sure the eUS could use a break from the retards in Congress.
And you act like winning on campaign with two COs does anything. All it does is waste your money, not ours. Pray tell what good holding a territory for one day does?

I shrug it off if I lose a bonus for a day or two, because we get it back. How's it feel to have a region, and even a bonus, at great monetary cost?
Kemal - when did you start taking an interest in the gubernatorial races of my home state? 🙂
Great [redacted] article!
I did the math for myself a few weeks ago, I get ~$31 from work, and after that it's $5-10 per employee to pay for the tax. Unfortunately, that's less money I can put back into the business.
Study economics bro and publish an serious article not some cheap manipulation.
If you really know anything about economics its worrisome because it means that you are trying to deceive some obscure real interests.
He has a PhD in Economics...
In light of recent events on the RL financial markets, I'm not sure that's any reference of trust. I'm not questioning his intelligence on the matter, probably exceeds mine by miles.
😉
Why is the eUSA the only nation in the top 15 with a work tax over 5% (other than Argentina at 7😵?
Does the eUSA offer so much more than ePoland, eSerbia, eTurkey, etc?
We have smaller tax bases than ePoland or eSerbia, so we need a higher tax rate to raise the same amount of money. eTurkey is a decentralized state, where I tried to raise taxes in the past but failed. MUs reign supreme.
"Since eUSforums are so horrible at the moment" - But where will Shadow show his amazing majik skills? xd
Good article though.
REDACT THE ADMINS..!
Kemal, I heard you want high taxes so you can steal more. Is that true?
Yes. I also kick puppies and steal candies from small children. That's me.
I heard that too. I'm glad you're finally being honest about being a horrible (elitist) human being.
No problem.
These are two of the reasons I love Kemal actually. If only I can get him addicted to blow....
Insanity reigns supreme here in the eUSA. Why are we here? We are here to play the game and attempt to pull off as close to a win as we can. Winning in this game comes from damage on the battlefield. More damage comes from the government dumping millions into battles. Now if everyone can follow that logic it's plain to see that even higher taxes would be a great benefit. More money for damage is never a bad thing.
