We have a serious problem
Max Blue
eRepublik is losing citizens every day. Here are some stats on the amount of 'active citizens' ingame:
Day 2,656 Active citizens 92,247
Day 2,657 Active citizens 91,367
Day 2,658 Active citizens 91,619
Day 2,659 Active citizens 91,503
Day 2,660 Active citizens 91,339
Day 2,661 Active citizens 91,115
Day 2,662 Active citizens 89,868
Day 2,675 Active citizens 88,223
Day 2,681 Active citizens 86,996
Day 2,691 Active citizens 86,518
Day 2,700 Active citizens 90,461
Day 2,712 Active citizens 89,702
Day 2,717 Active citizens 88,814
Day 2,722 Active citizens 87,720
Day 2,723 Active citizens 86,312
Day 2,725 Active citizens 85,895
Day 2,726 Active citizens 84,235
Day 2,732 Active citizens 83,824
Day 2,736 Active citizens 83,638
Day 2,795 Active citizens 82,953
Day 2,808 Active citizens 78,242
Day 2,812 Active citizens 77,464
Day 2,812 is today. Day 2,655 was 157 days ago, which is about 5 months. Over this period 15,261 'active citizens' stopped using eRepublik. This is an alarmingly high number. However I have more alarming news...
'Active citizens' is a term that is used to describe all citizens that are not 'dead'. Once a citizen is 'dead' they are not counted as an active citizen and their account is officially dormant. This means they do not count towards the official game statistics. However some accounts have never been alive in any sense of the word yet are still classified as alive (i.e. not officially dead). For example here are some people that have signed up to play eRepublik using my invite link:
He is not marked as 'dead citizen', which means he is counted as an 'active citizen'.
Others who have signed up using my invite link include: zed002, damian12345678, Kevin rosa amdrade, petike25, malay comando and Anna Raudsepp. That is 7 people I have just shown who are officially alive - but should not be counted as active citizens.
The number of actual players in eRepublik is not 77,464 as the game would suggest but in fact much, much lower. Accounts like these need to be officially labelled as dead. Then we can get a real figure of how many people are playing this game.
Let me get back on topic. In 157 days we have lost 15,261 active citizens. If this continues at exactly the same rate there will be no people playing in 5 years time. However the rate of players will not decrease at the same rate as currently. When the game gets quieter and quieter more and more people will leave adding to the speed of the decrease. In reality eRepublik is likely to be gone before 5 years are up.
What can be done to save eRepublik?
eRepublik is a game. People play it because they like it or don't play it because they don't like it. The total number of 'active citizens' going down shows more people don't like eRepublik than there are new people joining, liking eRepublik.
There is 1 thing that can save eRepublik and 1 thing only. The administrators of this game must listen to, and engage with the community!
Listen to feedback and new ways for feedback to be given
- Communication from the admins only comes in 'latest updates'. This is not good enough. Bring back Plato's newspaper and publish the updates in there. That way there will be a way to see people's feedback in the comments on specific updates. The admins then will also be able to gauge how popular changes are by how many votes the article gets.
- I see people's issues not being addressed on the forum. Just ignored. This must change, people with criticisms should be addressed. The logic of every move the admin team makes should be explained (or explainable) so people understand why things are changing not just getting ignored.
- Polls. Why are the players not asked their opinions in polls? Players have opinions and desires, why not find out directly what people want?

Max.... may i suggest that you copy and paste this article to the eRep Forum?
Good idea. I have now posted this article in the forum: https://forum.erepublik.com/index.php?/topic/4271-we-have-a-serious-problem/

What happen to that community manager they were trying to hire almost a year ago? Remember that advertising that was on the left rail of our home page for a while? Then it got all quiet.
! ! ! MAX BLUE FOR COMMUNITY MANAGER ! ! !
they have other games.. they support those, not this.
Sorry to use your comment.
A short-term solution is making reset to game. If we are willing to accept (including the VisaPlayer) could save the game, we would have about 5-6 years before returning to the same cycle.

It's Time For A "re-Set"

SO LET IT BE JUST 6000 MEMBERS (FOR E😵 BUT THE BEST FRIENDS. 🙂 my mission is almost accomplished.. 🙂
you are just a wee bit backed-up in your reading. 😛
We don't have a problem. eRepublik has a problem. 😃
We need more packs. Long live eTodayOnlik!
I agree. This is serious problem
Well, the game in its current form is doomed to death. Only thing could save it is the complete reformation of every module, but I don't see too much chance for it to happen.
I would say that admins are aware of that. They just dont know what to do to make this game more playable, so they are only trying to make as much money on us as they can. Thats why we have no real changes, only new packs, new promos, etc.
GAME OWER
Things are "not as bad" on their side and this is a "hard core game", so there is no problem, it's a visual bug.
http://prntscr.com/802dcz
PS. They will revive 30-40K accounts in a month or so and things will be "statistically" good again.
I think its time for Plato to create a new game. He got the community to do that.
I agree. I think that the administration should be more compassionate. A lot of new players (my friends) were blocked for wrong reason. They had lost the incentive. The administration should take care of new players. In this game it is very difficult to develop.
This is my opinion 🙂
The problem is that the game is focused on community, and has been for a long time. The admins have slowly weakened all of the modules, to give focus to the military module. The weakened modules mean that the community has less things to do and we have to rely on our own creativity to keep people here (competitions, trolling, random articles, plug dj). The military module has also lost all strategy so that the admins can make more money. Of all the games people can play on the internet there is no reason for a new player to stay on eRepublik unless they get involved in the community, which doesn't happen so often. We are also seeing players leave, which causes more players to leave. Therefore this trend we have seen over the past month or two of roughly 1000 players decrease by day (by eRepubliks count) is just going to get worse. At this rate there will be no eRepublik by the end of the year.
The obvious solution is to bring back strategy to the military module first, which is going to cost the admins financially as it means less need to buy gold. Whether they will do it or not is a mystery to us players, but the game will die without it. A revival of strategy would bring back aspects of the political module, enough to probably get more players interested in it again. The political module would need more work but it is a start. It would also help with the media. After this they can get to work on the economy, but I don't think anyone knows how to fix that.
trolling is out cuz they give FP for it
In my opinion eRepublik labs should sell the game. I am sad to say that, but at the moment they aren't caring and aren't focusing on it, not even a bit. The best we could do to make eRepublik live again is find a buyer.
For me this is the only solution.
I'll give them 50 gold for it 😉

GAME OWER
we don't have problem
there is plenty of other games
even erebuglik has 5 games 3 for I phonE
they have problem, not us
Rejoice, for the end is nigh!
it cannot come soon enough!
there is no reason why an internet browser game like this needs to be dying. Theres plenty of options to reinvent a game like this.
there is plenty of options newcomers to geto your strength soon but NO
Houston , we have a problem !
who the f cares about pay to win game?
wow, an interesting article about a real problem...
erepublik labs should make quickly some new events, some new areas to explore in the game (space colonies? small, new/old countries? (such as wallachia and moravia)...
even medievalist or unique minuscule states should be added to the game...)
there are many good ideas, and the admins/leaders of erepublik should listen.
its never too late!
this is a good game, and we can save it!
plus, its a mini-facebook for friends and colleagues
Watch Plato delete this because he cannot into free speech! admins spent past two years turninerep into their cash cow that's why the game is dying
I'm doing my own measurement by comparing changes in my rank, and each day, about 10-20 people above level 42 disappear.
Also there are 55000 people with lvl below 42... and most of them could be accounts just like you showed in your article.
I feel sad now, because I've returned here four months ago and I like this game and community so much :/
Well main difference at least thru my eyes is huge difference between new and old players. Ok we have different divisions, but so what? One new player starts with 0 strength, while top players already have near 130K strength! And it is simply impossible new player to catch up! If you are new player, even if you invest colossal amount of money from day 1 you CANT catch up, cuz in the end with maxed training centers we get same amount of strength! Believe it or not but this is main reason why newer players quit playin so fast.
In the end eRepublik is WAR game! Which means that most players are here to fight! Well if you are new player and you are fighting as much as you can you will get a lot experience and will progress really fast thru divisions, till you reach D4. And if you reach D4 with 30K strength for example... well you gonna be pretty much useless there! Now admins will say "But we gave you infantry kits". Yes thats true, but everyone is able to get them and considering that already there are monster players in D1 with 100K+ strength which for sure using infantry kits newer players have 0 chance against them! How one new player with 0 strength to compare with a guy in same division with 100K strength? Well he cant and thats why he'll quit!
Every game where it is impossible to catch up is doomed to die! Thats the whole problem. Noone likes to lose, but when you cant catch up you will lose for sure and thats very, VERY demotivating. But in same time if admins decide to reset the game then older players will be unhappy and most of them will leave, so in total eRepublik was doomed by default.
P.S. Admin's greed is also very demotivating! eRepublik transformed into pay to win game! And all those players that cant afford to spend tons of real money get angry and soon or later they quit too! But when most players quit big spenders also will quit, so admins dont be so greedy, cuz your greed is killing the game!!!
regarding the greed.:
Plato fails to see the long term picture.
The only possible solution is admins to fix division system! It is about time divisions to depend from influence, not from experience!!! For D1 is rly bad that some players there alrdy have 100K+ strength and considering that those players are using infantry kits they will never leave D1! So they will get stronger and stronger and all new players that start in D1 will leave the game extremly fast!
Admins idea to introduce divisions was realy good, but in same time that system was made completly wrong from beginning . So if devs fix that game will be much more attractive to new players and game wont die!
New players should get a Baby Boost (tm).
They need to get more str per training at the very least.
The progress curve is all wrong, old players progress fast - new players progress slow.
It should be the other way around.
It should be the other way around.
I should say that, divide players by exp points is really bad idea.
Admins should divide them by strength.
Strength or even better by influence!
We need some fr3sh bl00d
What can be done to save eRepublik?
Nothing
This game is boring.
The Dictatorship is killing it completely.

I wonder if they'll ever listen to us...
i counted to egov, and according to it there is 7500 active players left in erepublik (that means 7500 players who gain some xp), that's bad news.
