Senate Elections for newbies
Callumh123
Due to the current Department of Education, neglecting there duties i feel obligated to help newbies or anyone who needs help.
(PS I'm using one of my old articles as the base 😉
)
First of all, the senate is the eAustralian version of Congress where important decisions are made, such as taxes, wars, MPPs, among others. There are senate elections each month to decide who these people are.
Only Top 5 parties can put up senators. This means that if you are in a minor party that you have to move to a Top 5 party where the PP has agreed to run your party members. You can move back even if you have been elected though.
In the senate elections each Top 5 party can put up a maximum of 5 members per state. If you want to be a senator you have to contact your party president about running. They can refuse to run you if they think that you would not be a good senator, or if they think that you are a possible PTOer. In this case all you can do is become more well known on the forums and IRC and try again next month.
If you are not running, then vote for your approved candidates. If you don't know who these are contact your PP or go on IRC and ask somebody you know is Australian.
Some tips if this is your first time running
Article: Try not have a generic article like most, which usually consist of boobs, BIG BOLD LETTERS, and pleading to the public to vote you into senate. Try to think a little out the box.
I don't mean just write a wall of text, make it informative, short, sweet and put pictures in between your text. Try to name your goals and policies without sounding too corny. Also, add that this is your first time running because one of the old farts make take pity or see a bit of them self in you and gift you there vote. They're mostly old softies so don't forget to add it.
Messaging: Though messaging is hard work it often pays off (Ask paul hamon). If you just message a few randoms on why they should give you there vote ad why you believe you would be a good candidate and a brief outline of your preferred policies. Don't go being a Rowan Quigley and start pleading for votes, "Vote for me pl0x I'm desperate" does not usually sit well with players.
Forums and IRC: Again don't use the "Vote for me pl0x I'm desperate" technique, it will only get you haters. Instead it is a good idea to start a thread in the political section of the forum and again just copy and paste your article and receive feed back from fellow players, in a sometimes friendlier environment. Though not ideal to a lot of people, #ausrep in IRC is a great way to meet new players and to expand your brand.
New players are usually welcomed very much so in there unless you are accused of being a multi which happens quite frequently in there. Nevertheless some of eAustralias most prominent players are in there, like Sir_c0nstant, Hinokai, Jade Anon, infin, Darth Spader, Aussie Bloke, Majester and much, much more players.
These are only a few tips to help, you may not win even if you do this, but hopefully this will help guide you through this experience.

Callum, at least my technique works, I've been congressmen twice, and you have never been one. So it shows your doing it wrong.

I like the article except for the bit against me, anyone told you, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. If not, I think you should apply it to your life.
