[UKGov]Europe in Conflict

Day 1,108, 16:52 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office
Another exciting few days in the world, with the introduction of the new resources totally changing the strategic objectives and important regions for many nations which should prove for an extremely interesting time over the next few weeks.

War Rages in the British Isles

The war that has been going on for the last few weeks in Britain, with Canada and USA slowly continuing their invasion deeper and deeper into UK territory. This came to a head this week with not one but two attacks on the UK capital and fortress region of London, although the fortress region strategy has become less useful due to the admins' recent resource changes. The first attack came after the USA conquered the South East of England. It was a tense moment for the UK, as we were extremely concerned the EDEN behemoth could prove too much for us. We prepared thoroughly for this and I'd like to commend the hard working people in Cabinet, Military Command and Congress for working so hard to supply soldiers with food to fight in both London battles. The USA battle in the end proved to not merit the level of attention we had given it, as it turned out to be a damage drain for the critical battle in Lower Saxony and Bremen as well as a quick way to destroy our hospitals, in preparation for a second, more serious attack. This happened after Canada had conquered East of England. This London battle was far more heavily contested, with the Canadians tanking hard, but in the end the UK managed to prevail with the invaluable help of Phoenix. From then on, the UK totally turned the tables on the Broalliance invaders, starting with attacks on the USA held regions of South East and South West England, both of which were successful meaning the USA were removed from UK territory. The UK also attacked all the Canadian regions we bordered, meaning we ended up re taking the West Midlands, Wales , North West England and East of England and currently look set to retake the remaining UK regions within the next 24 hours, although Northern Ireland is still under Canadian control. It looks like this war is coming to a conclusion, with it looking like a narrow victory for the UK, although there is a chance it may escalate again.

War Reignited in the Iberian Peninsula

The unpredictable and volatile front in the Iberian peninsula erupted again over the last few days, with Brazil once again carving up Spanish defences and making incursions deep into their territories. It began with a Brazilian attack on Andalucia, which they won after a close fought battle, which was followed up with attacks on Murcia, Extremadura and Castilla La Mancha. They won all three of these relatively easily, meaning they could move on to Madrid, the Spanish capital and second most populous region, as well as the Valencian Community and Castilla y Leon. These were also won, however the Brazilian onslaught stalled from then on, with Spain eventually pushing them totally out of the Iberian Peninsula once again whilst Phoenix were distracted in other battles. With this conflict being so volatile you can be almost certain that fighting will fire up again soon enough.

War in Central Europe Comes to a Conclusion

After the French incursion into occupied Germany, which largely removed Poland from the Central European Pheonix nation, although Poland continues to hold Berlin, the German real life capital and Sweden holds two northern regions. After winning in Lower Saxony and Bremen, France attacked Berlin, held by Poland, however this proved to be too tough for France and Phoenix so after a hard fought battle Poland managed to secure the region and as France now have no border with Berlin they were unable to reattack and it is likely it will be returned by RWs. Germany has since RW'd all French occupied regions, with the exception of Rhineland Palatinate. It looks like this front is calming down, with Poland having no war with Germany and no border with France.

The Rest
- Hungary wipes former Phoenix member Ukraine off the map and gains valuable resource regions with the new changes.
- Russia wins a resistance war in Moscow, meaning all but one region, the Chinese held region of Eastern Siberia, is now under the Phoenix nation's control.
- Serbia, who lost their important high grain due to the resource changes have taken a grain region, Oltenia, from Romania, although it will be tough for them to hold it for any length of time.
- Turkey have crushed Cyprus convincingly, and were particularly impressive in the way they managed to amass over 600 players for battle strikes on their IRC channel, an impressive figure which shows their babyboomers are still going strong. This was done to keep the new players interested but with the resource changes become far more important as Northern Cyprus is now a crucial grain region, something which Turkey needs.
- Earlier today Indonesia declared war on their long time enemy Australia, in an effort to conquer Australia's resource rich regions, starting with an attack on the crucial grain region of South Australia, which they are currently winning easily.

That's it for this week, tune in for my last report of the term on the 5th :3
