Fixing A Hole

Day 741, 01:48 Published in USA USA by Jude Connors
I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
And stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go

I'm filling the cracks that ran through the door
And kept my mind from wandering
Where it will go

And it really doesn't matter if
I'm wrong I'm right
Where I belong I'm right
Where I belong

Congressional Status
If you visit the eUSA Congressional Forums or #eus-congress IRC channel, you probably already know that I have decided to end my career in Congress at the end of the term. I have carefully weighed this back and forth and I have decided to never seen an election into Congress again.

Now since I was thanking people for my re-election in my last article, In My Life, this might come as a surprise to many. Truthfully, I was the victim of the nasty side of politics as I lost a big for the Speaker of the House position. I've seen what can happen when people who know nothing are rushed into a vote that they know nothing about and elect someone because they are in the same party as them. I've also felt the pain of seeing people that are identified as "friends" vote for the opponent. It's a sting that is hard to get over. Even a person considered by me to be my best friend in the game didn't vote for me, afraid of being viewed as playing favorites.

And the truth is, I can usually get passed things like that, but the new Speaker of the House himself will tell you that I was more qualified, I am sure. Truthfully, if the most qualified person isn't elected to Leadership, that tells you a little something about how Congress works. That being said, I decided to not accept any of the offers the new Speaker of the House had made to me, not even the offer to concede after obviously winning the election. After starting the term off with the first forum proposal - a request for funding to restart the United States Skill 0 Job Hub - which I was appointed Director of at the end of the 22nd Congress - was met with a flame post from someone who isn't even a Congressman but on the Econ Board - I decided I was done. I locked the thread and rescinded my proposal. I had decided I was done for good.

I will finish this term, voting only on in game votes and none of the nonsense associated with forum votes. I will not bother to record my vote nor participate in the committee I was assigned. Basically, I will become a 2-Clicking Congressman in respect to Congress. When this term is over, my eLife as a Congressman is officially over. Thanks for the fun, 22nd, 23rd, and 24th Congresses.

Political Party Status
I believe that a political party's job is to open doors for their strong members, and my party failed me in that respect. After a short but awesome relationship with the United States Workers Party, I have decided to part ways with them. To be honest, I cannot imagine why I would need to be in a political party at all since I will never be running for Congress again. I wish nothing but success to the USWP and thank them for their companionship and friendship. I'm sure they will respect my decision and will not hold it against me.

What Now, Connors?!?!
Well, what now indeed. Well, I will continue to serve as Co-Director of the USA Welcoming Committee. The day-to-day work of helping out newly-born eAmericans is awesome in itself, but just the other day, I was able to be a part of a massive weapons distribution. It was awesome to be a part of such a great program. I was able to see it in action the first two times when I was a member of the Cabinet, but this was even more awesome. Actually sending 5 Q1 weapons to eAmericans was very cool. Chocolate McSkittles, a veteran of the job, instructed me on what to do and I did it. Vice President Woxan's newspaper, http://www.erepublik.com/en/newspaper/the-smoke-filled-room-185300/1, reported that five of us - ligtreb, Chocolate McSkittles, Gaius Julius, Killing Time, and I - distributed over 2,300 Q1 weapons to eAmericans to fight in Croatia. Like I said, it was awesome.

But aside from that, what will I do? Truthfully, I am looking at a few ways to go.

1. eUS Army
Oh yeah, there is another aspect of this game aside from Congress - the military. Ever since I learned what the DoD Orders were, I have followed them. Even when I was in the Bear Cavalry, I followed DoD Orders. I have been a supporter of the military and even graduated from the Training Corps last month. This month, I was accepted into the Home Guard.

But none of that compares to the active-duty warriors that fight for the eUSA everyday. By the end of my term, I will be at Strength Level Nine, enough to join the Army to start what I hope will be a long military career. I have already talked to some high ranking Army brass and as soon as I end my Congressional career, they are ready to help me begin a military one. Joining the Army WILL happen - there's no doubt to that.

2. Presidential Cabinets
I am always open to serve at the pleasure of any ePOTUS. If asked to serve, I will.

3. Concentrate on Running The Haight and it's Subsidaries
I have been trying to get my first company, Magical Mystery Tours, on a path to success. I have personally taken time to watch each of my workers closely and ascertain that they are in a fortress state and that they are keeping their wellness up. I support them fighting in wars and accept if one has low wellness because of that, but ultimately, I want them to work with over 90 wellness, obviously. A friend of mine has told me about the www.erepublik.ws tools and I intend to start using them soon. Hopefully, I can open more and more businesses and be a successful businessman - one that mentors his employees.

4. Rejoin My Commie Friends at SFP
I started my Congressional career with the Socialist Freedom Party, why not finish it there as well? Hell, maybe I can help to revitalize it? Maybe a bid at Party President? Who knows? I wonder how accepted I would be there, to be honest.

5. PTO "11th" Parties
You know those parties filled with dead citizens? Maybe I can PTO them and use the ad dollars for something. A few of my fellow Congressmen did it and I only passed it up last elections because I wanted to make sure The Green Party could return from Exile. They're good now, so maybe I can go ahead and put small dead parties out of their misery.

6. Join the Greens
I love those guys. Maybe I'll head there.

7. More to a New Country
Maybe I need a change of scenery. A few good buddies of mine are important figures in foreign governments, maybe I can find some use there? By the way, Good Luck Whispering Elizabeth!

8. Charge People to Officiate Marriages
After performing three marriages in one week, I think I have built a reputation as one hell of a Marriage Officiator. First the marriage of Devan Kronos and Fionia; then the marriage of Boethiah and Whispering Elizabeth; and finally the marriage of Herrn Sterling and Frank Furglar. Ask any of them if you need a referrel to my marriage officiating work.

9. Put more Time and Effort into the Alliance for Good Government
This, in addition to military service and the Welcoming Committee, will be a big chunk of my future. I still want this to succeed.

10. Quit the Game and Join E-Jahan
Not likely at all, but I wanted to end this list with an even number.

To be honest, I am just trying other things out. Congress was fun, but my time there is done. With that, I will probably be closing my IRC Office as well. Visit me at IRC Office - Connor's Office until next elections. Maybe we can have a big blow-out!

I'm taking the time for a number of things
That weren't important yesterday
And I still go
Ooh ooh ooh ah ah

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
Stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go oh
Where it will go oh
