So you say you are not EDEN
Hugo Lilly
So you say you're not EDEN? Prove it.
I voted YES on the proposal to return to peace with eIndonesia. Even if we are participating in the SOL wargames, we are not a member of SOL. We are a neutral country. If a member state of SOL gets attacked, we should not defend them. We paid the cost of the MPP's plus an additional fee to be included in these games. Be absolutely clear on the fact that Malaysia is not our ally - just an eCountry that we purchased a service from.
By defending against PHOENIX, we would be taking EDEN's side. How would this look to the eWorld? We claim to be neutral, but at the first sign of trouble we jump to the defense of Malaysia - a country we have no real history or diplomatic ties with? Furthermore, we would be fighting against Indonesia, a Phoenix country. By keeping an open war with them, we would be siding with EDEN, jeopardizing the neutral stance that Belgium has worked so hard to maintain.
And yet, you ask, wouldn't voting YES on the proposal then mean the exact opposite, that Belgium would be on the side of Phoenix? NO. By returning to peace with Indonesia, we are actually remaining NEUTRAL. We just want to close the open war with Indonesia at this point. If Indonesia attacks Malaysia again, the Belgian MPP will be activated again.
Malaysia is not our ally. We have no allies. That's sort of the point of being neutral, no?
There are two choices in this proposal vote - EDEN or neutrality. It's time for the Free Belgium party to show its true colours.

Malaysia is a country of two regions.
If Indonesia attacks and conquers both regions, there is no Malaysia.
There will be no Malaysia to have an alliance with.
There will be no Malaysia to have a Training War with.
If there is no Malaysia, the gold that Belgium spent for a training war is wasted.
If there is no training war, the Belgian people have no way to use the hospital to maintain wellness.
Peace with Indonesia is fine and I agree to that AFTER they make peace with Malaysia.
It shouldn't be part of our foreign policy to go around telling countries whom they should and shouldn't attack. Being neutral means butting out. And if Indonesia attacks again, the MPP will be activated again.
My stance is not PRO EDEN or ANTI Phoenix. It is pure economic self interest.
Belgium needs an active Training War.
The threat of Indonesia depriving us of that should not be ignored.
Peace with Indonesia AFTER they make peace with Malaysia
IF Indonesia attacks again, then the MPP will be activated again. Then Belgium can flex its tiny muscles and defend our economic interests at that point, okay?
I fully understand that if Malaysia does not exist, we won't have any Training Wars. But, is it worth paying the price of sacrificing our neutrality?
They have two regions. How long do you think it would take to over run two regions? If they pick the right time to attack, it is over almost before it begins.
Better safe then sorry.
Peace with Indonesia AFTER they make peace with Malaysia
@Rod Damon:
Neutrality > Training Wars
what about peace Malaysia/Indonesia? I don't see the problem.
We are there to defend malaysia for our "training war" too.
How much countries/indonesia?
I have no objections with voting yes to a peace with Indo, but only after they made a peace with Malaysia first
I agree with Rod on this one.
Needs of the Belgian citizenry > all else
Again peace with Indonesia AFTER they make peace with Malaysia.
Enjoy the death of your country. Training Wars are boring as heck, but at least they provide some outlet for ranking up, levelling up, and healing.
Without them your citizens will sit, idly two-clicking.
So much fun.
@TemujinBC i know that, but i think we need the respect of neutrality.
Ebelgium has been rebuild for a short time.
And for the TW : We can get one with Venezuela...
Ooooh! Training War with Venezuela!!1!!@@!!
ZZZzzZZZzzzZZZZ
🙂
Except it was decided that the SOL training war was more in line with a position of neutrality
In the end, is it not just protecting Belgium's investment with Malaysia?
I'll have to agree with Hugo Lily on this one - neutrality before training wars, as a matter of principle. No one will take us serious if we give up our self-proclaimed neutrality after just one month. I'm sorry about the possible bad turn out for our investment in the SOL games, but that's a case of "force majeure". And although neutrality doesn't mean that we can't have other neutral allies, but eMaleysia wasn't our ally, it was just providing a service, as Hugo said, and it would be hypocrisy from our side not to sign the peace treaty. And having other active MPPs, eMaleysia won't feel a big difference in its defense if we do - we're just a small fish in military perspective.
Ummm...being Malaysia's ally would mean you'd be siding with Sol, not EDEN
@Old Gregg
Please read the article before commenting. I said that by siding AGAINST Indonesia, you would be siding with EDEN.
Coming from an EDEN soldier as it is, I know that what I'm about to say won't mean much, but...
Metaphorically, you're basically saying that you won't help out an acquaintance, a member of a small trading company over on X Street, you currently have an arrangement with, who is being beaten to hell and back, on the grounds that the guy beating him up is part of a large, powerful gang and said gang will believe that you are aiding a rival gang because you are fighting one of their members, rather than just helping someone who is currently helping you with something.
...
Think about that for a bit.
Well if Hugo Lilly donates 100 gold for another MPP for TW with somebody who is not getting attacked for real and that one is signed, then losing Malaysia won't matter that much.
I'd donate 50 gold if only you would chose a side and help your population enjoy the full benefits of gameplay. Your country is dying and it is all because you pride yourself on boredom instead of excitement.
But whatever. Good luck and all.
@TemujinBC
not all player play erepublik for war 😁
if they play for war, maybe will create their account in different country. for the others, they concentrate on politics, media, or business.
I respecting any decision that eBelgium's made, even it's not on my expectation.
Well, at least I hope this issue will liven up Belgian players(where many of them not play for war).
For young belgian:
as you see, politics is interesting too right? Keep playing and build you country 😁
You can if you really try!
For Congress:
Don't forget to vote, it still means exp whether you click YES or NO.
"If Indonesia attacks Malaysia again, the Belgian MPP will be activated again."
And another free war (i dont think Indonesia can defeat Malaysia)
Voted for that one
Signed
Masila
@ Lucius Casus
Nice metaphore... and although I'm not really into gang wars, I do guess that when you protect that business acquaintance against a gang member, that that gang might very well turn against you.
But hey, that's just based on what I've seen in the movies 😛
[ NOTE: I'm just going into the metaphore, I am not saying IN ANY WAY that Phoenix will be offended or attack eBelgium. I'm not in the position to decide or even have any influence on that. AGAIN: THIS POST IS NOT SPECIFICALLY ABOUT EDEN/PHOENIX/SOL/whatever. Don't flame me for it. Thanks. 😛 ]
While this 'training war' is indeed good for the population (experience, wellness, something to do,...), I doubt our beloved Eden government forgot that this would also help Eden, no?
I'm pretty sure Phoenix isn't going to think we've gone EDEN just because we keep up our TW. They're not idiots.
Well, I wouldn't say eBelgium is dying - new citizens are being born every day, our government is getting active, just as many citizens. The country may seem quiet, but you haven't seen it a couple of weeks ago - we're making steps forward, however small they may be.
As to our "business acquaintance", you shouldn't forget that eMaleysia is part of Sol, an other gang, or syndicate, or whatever seems more fitting into that metaphore, while we are totally on our own. We can't but stay out of everyone's way, especially if our "help" is totally insignificant and would harm the only piece of value we still have - our integrity and credibility. I can understand EDEN supporters don't see any problem there, as long as it fits their general interests, but those who support PHOENIX could have a different perspective on the subject, and as a neutral country, still divided by tactical voters, we shouldn't forget that.
And Tacitus, I have seen alliance supporters get annoyed by far less significant actions, so I wouldn't take any risk there.
first you have to do the truffle shuffle
"So you say you're not EDEN? Prove it."
Guilty until proven innocent.
What a charming respect for civil liberties you have.
US soldiers playing "neutral"... pfff
We should signed peace with Indonesia, because "why not". If they attack again we will have war again, it simply. If they won't, that better for our training war.
Yes, I'm from Poland, but I have that citizenship to stand for Belgium neutrality 🙂
i dont get it we fight for sol in the war and then they say we are eden wtf ??
U dont have to sign peace, but U know, if U make peace U still can defend Malaysia. The first minute, when indonesia attacks Malaysia again, Ur war and mpp will be active free.
Beside, Belgiums real firepower isnt big enough to defend Malaysia against Indo. If Indo wins against Malaysia, it would happen with or without belgian mpps. But yet 20 countries defending Malaysia, so they wont fall for a long time.
We should signed peace with Indonesia, because "why not". If they attack again we will have war again, it simply. If they won't, that better for our training war.
