Parties and Candidates in Israel, September

Day 1,040, 11:07 Published in Israel USA by Rheinlander von Phalz

25 September 2010, Day 1,040 of the New World.

Election day is on worldwide, and in Israel 50 citizens have submitted their candidacy Israel First has proposed 22 candidates for the Knesset; United Israel Independents has proposed twelve; United Zionist Party has proposed seven, Integrity – Integration – Israel has proposed four, and Girls Rule has proposed five.

Girls Rule was the party created by Greekboy, who remains on the ballot in Nazareth despite being banned. It was taken over by SamMed, who since resigned. After his resignation, the party was inaccessible for some time, until it returned with the most-experienced remaining member, ma tai, as its President. ma tai subsequently renamed it; it currently has eight members.

Integrity – Integration – Israel was the party once ruled by Con Dingo, who called it the “New Millennial Party” after changing its name from “Lantern Society.” It acquired its current name when it was taken over by Rheinlander von Phalz the same month that saw SamMed winning his former position.

United Zionist Party overtly merged members into Israel First, yet it continues to exist as Israel’s third-largest party. Gavin Wax won the most recent Party Presidential election, although he since resigned and is now a Knesset candidate under Israel First. Maelyn is its current Party President (and is not a Knesset candidate). Despite the UZP-IF merger, citizens like Yoav_Israel and Jewyoyo remain members of the United Zionist Party.

The largest two parties in Israel are the United Israeli Independents, again led by CRoy, and Israel First. The Party President election in IF was won by Ohad Sella unopposed. However, upon Sella’s resignation, the seat passed to the most-experienced member in the party: Franz Kafka. This presents a problem, as Kafka appears to be inactive. Furthermore, IF already nominated yuvy15 for Country President. With an inactive Party President, they will be unable to change their nomination when a real and better candidate appears.

The allocation of Knesset seats presents a unique problem for Israel’s Party Presidents. Because each region is entitled to at least seven Knesset members, each party may propose seven candidates per region. As always, if fewer than the maxmimum number of candidates allowed proposes candidacy in one region in one party, the Party President has no choice but to accept them. He may only replace his party’s lineup on the 24th of the month when he has someone to replace a candidate with; he is unable to replace a candidate with nobody.

I3 has four citizens listed as “official candidates,” and it is possible to vote for them today. However, this should not be interpreted as official support, since the Party President of I3, similar to the Party President of every Israeli party (except one with more than seven candidates trying to run in a single region), could not deny ballot access to anyone trying to run. I3’s candidates technically are:

In Beersheba South District, Rheinlander von Phalz

In Haifa District, lincolnpark

In Nazareth North District, Israeliicitizen

In Tel Aviv Center, Con Dingo

Their presence on the ballot in I3 colors should not be seen as an official endorsement. Perfect.Knight recently commented “also funny how rhain (sic) guy ptoes a party then puts his buddies who are clearly have no idea even what knesset is.” This represents a fundamental misunderstanding of the mechanics of eRepublik and the intentions of I3. Perfect.Knight made this accusation with no evidence that any candidates are “buddies” with “rhain guy.”

Here are the facts about I3’s Knesset candidates: the Party leadership has no contact with lincolnpark and cannot make any statement as to his intentions. Israeliicitizen lost a bid for Party President, but other than that no contact has been established. We cannot make any statement as to his intentions. Con Dingo is an incumbent Knesset member from Haifa District. He declared candidacy less than twelve hours before the deadline to do so passed, and preventing him from being on the ballot would have required seven blockers. He appears to have moved to Tel Aviv in search of an easy win, as that region has just eight candidates (meaning only one will lose his bid for a seat). He does actively contribute, and his candidacy is a hunt for a medal.
