Belgian Independence
Hugo Lilly
Belgium is in a strategically important location, from which EDEN could launch attacks and keep a country initiative locked, or from which we could launch blocking attacks in defense of Phoenix countries. Both sides would love to have Belgium on their team; we are a piece of valuable military real estate. EDEN attempted to launche a PTO on Belgian congress elections, with limited success. So although we now have some control over our government, we must tread carefully. We are in a delicate position where EDEN may attack us if they deem us to be a threat. By remaining neutral, we can stay out of a fight we cannot win.
Why we can't remain neutral forever
This is a game of war, and there are two clear, opposing sides. We will have to choose eventually.
What if EDEN decides to conquer us again?
You can conquer us, but you can't bend us to your will. Give me liberty or give me death. You don't make friends with PTOs and stalling progress in the operations of our government.

If EDEN go home, then we can talk about neutrality
Am i remember correctly that curent president of Belgium is from Phoenix?
Shhhh they don't want anyone to point out the Phoenix connections. It is much easier to keep trying to rally against EDEN.
Look at the slant taken in this article. Eden could launch and attack, while Phoenix could defend. If they were truly acknowledging a neutral stance it would have been written as both could launch attacks or block for defense.
Yes, I know currently it is Phoenix under attack. It is easy to know this, since all you have to do is check where a bunch of ministers and leading supporters of the President are. If you guess Belgium, you would be wrong.
Everyone elected in Belgium had foreign support from either EDEN or Phoenix. Both alliances have an interest in Belgium, and both alliances have been willing to affect the country's elections.
Not just EDEN.
Belgians are naturally Phoenix - they ran the UNL when it joined Phoenix, and recently were PTOed by The Group, who signed MPPs with the US, Romania and Greece before bankrupting the country. Phoenix sent in voters to vote for Belgians, EDEN sent in soldiers to run in their own parties with EDEN military avatars, who then proceeded to tey to pass a law increasing the minimum wage to 200BEF, and increased income tax and VAT on food to the maximum.
Just EDEN
this is revisionist history, or ignoring it.
'this is revisionist history, or ignoring it.'
What does that mean? Which part is revisionist? If you want to know more, read the wiki file on Belgium.
"Belgians are naturally Phoenix"
So whenever we hear "Belgium for Belgians" we would be safe in interpreting that as "Belgium for Phoenix?"
Due to the actions of EDEN, then that may be the case once Europe goes back to normal. I don't think anything but neutrality would work (or be chosen) until Germany, France and the UK are whole (or nearly whole) again. The threat of another hostile EDEN PTO is enough to keep the country out of your way until then.
Eden sees only phoenix on this game? It is terrible to play just for that.
Sorry, you have few persons who don't want to be sheeps.
If PHOENIX go home, EDEN go home.
All who are acting against the Belgian interest best go home. But as a lot are soldiers they will not leave only when their boss will tell.
At least their are Belgians working for Belgium. Soldiers in the congress of foreign nations. Having their avatar of one alliance, could we trust them?
We cannot, they only work for their alliance, because that is their first priority. So best is to get more citizens joining Belgium as new player. Maybe they can make the foreign soldiers votes smaller. In that there is the future.
If Phoenix go home, then we can talk about neutrality
"Having their avatar of one alliance, could we trust them?"
I feel that anyone who does that is at least being honest about their position and feelings. It would be easy to find a group of people who would change their avatar to hide their identity. It would be easy as well to wrap oneself in an identity claiming to be something in real life, that for all intents has no real impact on the game.
Many of the countries in this game would be quickly overrun by other powers if they were limited to just one group of players. Promoting such a concept as something "righteous" is not the way to build a better eBelgium or any other state.
Older Belgian players are in most cases "naturaly" pro-PHOENIX, but I wouldn't generalize and claim that our whole nation is by definition adhering to one alliance or the other.
