Danny Desario in Freaks and Geeks, brilliantly realized. A young man coming to the realization that his future is in jeopardy because of his "fk it let's party" attitude and his external circumstances, but still a "lost boy" trying to find his track. The right mix of brooding internal tension and "let's get high under the bleachers." Some of that is the writing, but the sense of internal tension is all acting.

Anyway, it was him or Jess Franco, the Italian director of 70's splatter, exploitation and porno films. I went with the more recognizable of the two.
