[MoCH] Tanabata Festival: Tanzaku JPY Sweepstakes/Giveaway!

Day 1,710, 17:45 Published in Japan Japan by ahava3233

Hey all, it's your MoCH, ahava3233. In any case, elections are over and the airwaves have settled a little, so it's time to run an event for the Tanabata Festival, which I gave an introductory overview of here!

Tanzaku Sweepstakes/Giveaway

As I mentioned in my last MoCH article, throughout much of Japan, Japanese observe the Tanabata festival by following a custom of placing paper strips, or Tanzaku (短冊) with wishes written upon them in prose or poetry on bamboo. The bamboo and the strips are usually disposed of in fire or by being set afloat in a river around midnight or the next day.

Now there's a thing about wishes. Most of us know from life experience that if you wish for something substantial, your wish is less likely to come true than if you wished for something less substantial. For example, on a related note to the program being conducted here, if you wished for money (a rather greedy wish in most cases but that's beside the point) you're more likely to get less than more.

So, the MoCH has seen fit to give citizens a chance to make their erepublik wishes for the festival and tacitly along with that, for money as well. After giving your wish, you have the option to make a "substantial wish" and enter a sweepstakes for ¥1000 or ¥500 or a "less substantial wish" and enter a simple giveaway where you will be issued ¥50. Please read the details below.

How to Enter

1. Vote up this article and start by making an erepublik-related wish in English or Japanese in the comments below; you can do this in simple prose (sentence(s)) or in a form of poetry. I personally recommend Haiku as is done often by real Japanese when making their wish on Tanzaku. Haiku follows a pattern of 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables (or technically morae when written in Japanese). Anyway, my own wish as an example.

"
I wanna see a month
Where all of the elected Diet
Works hard for us all
"

2. Note in your post whether you want to enter the giveaway or the sweepstakes in English.

Giveaway
Choose this option and you will receive ¥50 from the MoCH.

Sweepstakes
Entrants into this option will be assigned integers in order of their time of entry, earliest with the lowest integer, starting from 1. The MoCH will perform two separate drawings using the random integer generator here.

First Drawing, Grand Prize:
¥1000

Second Drawing, First Prize:
¥500

Eligibility and Other Information
1. All entries and wishes must be made in the comments below, multiple posts are allowed to convey your single entry/wish. Limit one (1) entry per citizen in only one of the above options (Giveaway or Sweepstakes, can't choose both).
2. Only eJapanese Citizens are eligible for this program. Your entry will not be recognized if you renounce your citizenship before you're given your prize.
3. Prizes will be issued by the end of Day 1,713, hopefully earlier, and no further entries for either option will be accepted past 48 hours from the time this article was published (17:45 erepublik time on day 1,712).
4. You must make an erepublik-related wish on your entry in English or Japanese for it to be accepted. It can be in the form of poetry such as Haiku (or any form of poetry you may prefer) or simple prose (sentences). Sharing the same wishes as other entrants is allowed, those entries will be recognized, but it would be preferred if you can make your own if you can up with one.
5. The results of the sweepstakes drawing are not to be contested. Nevertheless, the MoCH promises to conduct a fair drawing using the random integer generator here.
6. All Prizes will be issued from the MoCH's Budget, currently ¥8050 is available. (¥250 was spent to pay for a contractor to make empress day placards since the report here).
7. If you have further ideas for Tanabata, please let us know here.
