Greetings, citizens of Israel. I know many of you expected this announcement. It did not come early enough for many of you. The announcement is as follows: This month I, Rheinlander von Phalz, will be running for President of Israel! In this article I will outline my platform and what I consider the most important issues for the advancement of our country.



Although there are many challenges facing Israel today, I believe they can be summarized thusly: Israeli relevance is not high, in terms of its damage output and international visibility, and Israel has issues with government stability.



The nations that are regarded as the most powerful are the ones that field the most damage on the battlefield. Other countries want to be their friends and fear being in their crosshairs. Their populations are large, and their soldiers are strong. Countries become powerful in three ways: large population, cheap weapons and food for their population, and battles to train their population. We need to focus on population growth, because Israel has been too small for too long, lowering the prices on our marketplace, because more food means more fights, and securing at least one fight Israelis can participate in at any time. My administration will see our nation increase its combat competency.

An auxiliary component to increasing our damage output is an organized and functional armed force. While the general population can fight and train from Israel through our alliances with Romania or Poland, there are bound to be interesting conflicts across the globe that we cannot participate in. This is especially true of resistance wars. If we want to have an impact as country on a wider stage, we need a mobile arm capable of delivering Israeli damage abroad. This objective can best be accomplished by expanding the Israel Defense Forces. Without compromising the existing military structure, I will promote self-sufficiency and expansion in the IDF, especially its mobile forces.

In Israel I have been Vice President and Minister of Finance. In the United States I was Speaker of the House and Secretary of Media. At all times I was a soldier. My administration will emphasize the importance of participation in the armed forces as a way to increase our might and retain citizens.



Although we have highly dedicated people working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs right now, we simply do not have the manpower to build relations all over the globe. I propose a kind of triage by which we focus on a subset of states. Maintaining diplomatic contact with these nations will be the primary mission of my Foreign Affairs ministry while we reestablish the manpower to operate more. The first group, Strategic Partnership Countries, could be critical to the deployment of Israeli or Levant military tactics. These countries, which share borders with Israel, are one historical friend, one historical enemy, and a new nation – Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus.

The second layer of this foreign affairs plan focuses on a broader range of states which could either be relevant in an expanded military scope or or historical or prospective allies. These “Extended Cooperation Countries” include Poland and Romania, which have maintained relations and alliances with us. Other prospective allies to provide us with battles in which to train include Croatia, United States, Canada, Spain. Iran is included in this category for its proximity and the likelihood that it would become involved in military affairs in Asia Minor.



EDEN membership has been a goal of past Israeli administrations. I cannot promise to bring Israel into EDEN, nor do I think that is a necessary condition for success. Despite not being integrated into EDEN command, we are on good terms with individual EDEN and EDEN-aligned states. To be seriously considered for membership, should we want it, our damage output and mobile capacity would have to be increased. Our military leaders can also cooperate with EDEN better prior to Israel’s ascension to full membership.



We need to do more to promote activity in all aspects of our community. This is going to be the task of the Interior department, which I want to see reinvigorated. eRepublik has changed on us, and it is time for a new series of tutorial articles directed at getting young players knowledgeable. We need them to learn the value of high wellness quickly, as that will help solve our resource shortages. At the same time we need to do more to promote the community aspects of the game, the forums and IRC, in English and Hebrew.



Israel has problems with government stability, and this is not entirely because of the “two-state” problem. The country is pulled too many different ways, and the government is too reliant on a small number of people. Government posts became political favors rather than jobs, and issues which should not be political have become political.

Administration of the national forum should not be a political battle. It only infrequently is a problem in other countries. Ideally, forum admins should be impartial and janitorial; they keep discussion civil and boards organized. The forum used during Wax’s administration was maintained by Wax, which does not promote trust or stability. For them to survive, we need to promote a team of apolitical administrators. The same is true of our Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel.

I spoke with a member of Knesset and party leader once, and he thought it was “bad politics” to announce a Cabinet before being elected. While I understand the apprehension, I disagree. I think that a President is nothing without effective subordinates, and the public has a right to know who would be leading the country other than the CP. The last election might have turned out differently had the public been informed that 70mD II would be stepping up as Minister of Finance. During my campaign, I will work on putting together a government ready to start strong immediately after the election.




I offer a solid plan for how my government, should you elect it, will run.


I have witnessed this problem in every administration since becoming a citizen. Ministers either have no direction and fly their ministries wherever they want or have no authority and the President does everything. I can tell you that with what I have planned for the country, I will not be doing everything on my own. Posts will not be granted as gifts to my friends. I will give each Minister a clear mission and delegate enough authority to let him or her accomplish it. These positions are jobs one volunteers for in pursuit of a better Israel, and honest work is expected from each.


For quick communication, we will have a private channel on IRC in addition to the national channel at #eisrael . Communication in that channel will be done in English. For long-term government plans, we will have briefings on the forums, and these will be done in Hebrew and English.



Israelis don’t know much about their government. This is unacceptable, as the government works for the people. We will teach the population how their government works, encouraging them to take an interest in its operation and success. We cannot advance without transparency.


This is a necessary conclusion of my positions on enlarging the community and expanding our foreign relations efforts. To keep new citizens active and involved, and give them a reason to keep coming back to the New World, we need to engage them. An ambassador post is a great way to do this, and we should be creating new positions in that field. We also need military officers, interior workers, and writers (especially bilinguals). I will post a job application, and people who want to step up and be active can do so. We need to groom the next generation of leaders, because recycling the same people leads to horrible stagnation. Again, jobs will only go to people willing to put in the effort.
