[Government Address] The Current Situation

Day 710, 23:11 Published in South Africa Romania by SA Min. of Foreign Affairs
Hello South Africa,
A few hours ago, President Steven Bosch wrote an article calling for a referendum. I'm here to explain to you what the situation is.

Malaysia
Tensions have been building between Malaysia and Indonesia for some time now. Real life hatreds have spilled out onto article comments and forums. Malaysia came to Sol two days ago seriously concerned about Indonesian aggression. We began to theorize on what we would do if there were a direct attack on the alliance. South Africa is in a difficult situation. Neutrality and peaceful negotiations have been our goal since regaining territories in August. There is a strong belief that Indonesia, as their empire crumbles, are seeking to go on the offensive. To have fun or to do it for "lulz", possibly going rogue from PEACE. Given the Indo's past imperialist vendetta, Malaysia, China, and Australia were deeply concerned by the end of the meeting. South Africa, however, still has a non-aggression pact with Indonesia in place.

Australia
Yesterday, a resistance war started in Australia. Eden forces landed in the region and the territory was taken from Indonesia and returned to eAus. Indonesia has not been having a good week. This combined with their loss of Western Siberian Region does not result in pleased Indos. Soon the alliance proposals began to pop up. Australia and USA, Australia and Spain, Australia and Canada etc. What was Sol, what was South Africa to do? We were happy to see Australia finally having that region returned to them. After long occupation ourselves, how could we not sympathize? But there were serious concerns involved in this exchange. It was released that the RW was not only Eden run but fully approved by the Australian government. One of our allies had breached neutrality and clearly allied themselves with Eden forces. Imperialist warfare, the duel between PEACE and Eden has reached our own region. Sol acted to quickly preserve their fundamental neutrality, the basis of the alliance. Chairman Hekter proposed that we expel Australia and sever ties before we are drawn into the conflict. Australia in going on the offense has voided our obligation to Mutual Defence agreements. This is still being fiercely debated on the Sol forums.

South Africa
What will we do in South Africa? If all out war does indeed erupt, is there any way to avoid it? Do we learn from our lessons in the past and take a neutral stance, or allow ourselves to be drawn into conflict on one side or the other? This may very well be the topic of tomorrow's referendum. South Africans should begin thinking about these questions and be ready to participate in informed discussion. Many of the tensions we are all feeling have been expressed in this thread.

Reading through it could help you to understand our situation even further.

In the mean time, Indonesia has offered to return regions in South Africa and other bordering countries. This is a sudden anomaly. It contrasts with their usual refusal to negotiate on region return. It may be a dual attempt at appeasing us, and tactically blocking or buffering against access from the east to strongholds such as Western Cape.

Our government has been hard at work exploring all options and preparing for all possible situations. This article has been a joint project intended to cut through the confusion and media frenzy in the eWorld. We hope that you will stop to think and approach these events with maturity and restraint.

South Africa will be fine,
and we will work through all of this together,
