1/x or e^(-x) ?
The correct emoticon is: XD
Looks like (x^2 - lnx)/(x^3) where x>0 to me

No real difference with 1/x , ln(x) is just too small.

We want something with a great negative gradient pretty much, the greater the better, and then a big change in gradient so that y tends towards 0 while x goes to infinity. But make it complicated to confuse people, that's what mathematicians do.
Tons of historical implications as well as political suggestions. This source clearly demonstrates how political ideology is not merely a line, but a downwards and left leaning curve. It suggests that the regular left norm is extreme left wing authoritarian, and would suggest that all those on the political gradient and curve either fall in the realm of adroit communist or democrat. The clear limitations however on this curve are where you would place individuals like Donald trump. As much as the provenance of the source is accurate I would indeed still suggest the much more well rounded rhombus shape for the political spectrum
But solid effort
hit the nail on the head, but am disappointed that you did not note the choice of the colour red and the decision to use the second thickest brushy thing in "Pencil" mode in Microsoft Paint, as well as the usage of Comic Sans in the signature. These techniques must not be overlooked in a complete analysis.

They were minor details for another day but very well
The colour red obviously backs up the theory of the extreme authoritarian leftism the cartoonist is trying to convey and lends itself very well to this suggestion. The focus of the political spectrum depicted here is very much a left wing bias, nothing wrong with that 😉
The second thickest is an interpretive choice. It's not the first thickest, it's not the third thickest. It is the second thickest. In the wide range of features that MS paint allows, why choose the second thickest pencil? Well the ruffian soviet communists we're indeed the second 'thickest in the space race'. Whilst the capitalist Americans spent billions researching a pen that would write in outer space, the Russian lefties merely used their initiative and used a pencil, saving valuable Time and effort in doing so. As the left bias is apparent the choice of pencil is fitting.
The left, or loony left as a lot of critics call it is a mysterious thing. As a homage to its critics the cartoonist has obviously here decided to use comic sans for the signature, the true language of the loony left, as well as a common description for known and well regarded satirical cartoonish hail astrid.
